Description

Preble Street has a full-time 3rd shift Housing Support Staff opening at Florence House. This position will be working across all residential programs, although primarily at Florence House. Based on the Housing First model, Florence House, located in Portland, provides low-barrier comprehensive services and resources for women, including an emergency shelter, safe havens, and permanent efficiency apartments. It is a 24/7 program, open 365 days a year.

  • The schedule for this position is an overnight (awake) position for 4 nights (Saturday, Sunday, Monday Tuesday), from 11PM until 9AM the following morning.
  • This position reports directly to a Florence House Supervisor.
  • The primary role of this position is to build relationships with clients, provide program coverage, maintain client safety, monitor the security of the building, provide crisis intervention and support, and assist clients in overcoming barriers to stable housing.
  • In addition, the Housing Support Staff are responsible for supporting program documentation needs, participating in programming, and coordinating services and support across all Florence House shifts.


Requirements

A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a helping profession, as well as MHRT-1 certification, is required. Highly qualified candidates without an MHRT-1 will be considered, but will be required to complete their MHRT-1 Provisional before starting the position and must obtain full MHRT-1 certification within one year of hire.

Candidates for this position must have a positive regard for individuals accessing services for homelessness and poverty; strong communication skills; familiarity with community services; an understanding of low-barrier service challenges; the ability to establish boundaries and set limits with a diverse population; and the ability to work as part of a team.


Benefits

This position offers competitive pay at a rate of $15.70 per hour, which annualizes to $32,656.
