We continue this legacy 100 years later by meeting the needs of Philadelphia’s homeless families. We offer a full range of supportive services to achieve our mission to help families experiencing homelessness become healthy, productive, and self-reliant. Families Forward works closely with the City of Philadelphia’s Office of Homeless Services to help families transition back into the economic mainstream, obtain permanent housing, and lead healthy, fully realized lives.

 

 

Position Description

Innovation – Commitment – Hospitality - Creativity

The Residential Aide (RA) serves a pivotal role at Families Forward Philadelphia in promoting the agency’s mission, the safety of our residents and the physical integrity of the residence.  The RA will be required to work enthusiastically and energetically with all team members, families, as well as external stakeholders of the agency. Residential Aides are required to be team players. RA’s are required to ensure compliance with programs, policies, and procedures. RA’s most remain flexible and demonstrate consistent problem-solving skills. 


It is imperative that this essential staff member builds and maintains trusting and cooperative relationships with the families we serve. While the primary focus of FFP is next step housing, our team is committed to assisting the “whole-person” and “whole-family” in achieving milestones and goals set forth by the teams. The RA is a part of a team that aims to wrap around the family, while maintaining the highest practical level of physical, mental, psychosocial well-being and quality of life for the residents.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

·        Consistently treat all person with respect and dignity

·        Display superior customer service at all times to all people

·        De-escalate conflicts on shifts

·        Follow up with Case Management Team (when instructed)

·        Ensure communication with RA Team and team leads

·        Mandatory e-mail usage (communication preference of the agency)

·        Monitor cameras

·        Monitor the physical spaces of the residence and ensure safety and cleanliness of all areas

·        Serve meals

·        Complete room checks

·        Attend meetings as required

·        Maintain and ensure compliance with a healthy and safe work environment by following all Families Forward Philadelphia’s policies and procedures.

  • Knowledge of social services, child welfare, and family systems services.

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

·        High school diploma or equivalent

·        Must be 18 years or older

·        Minimum 2 years social service experience, preferably with at-risk, low-to-no income families, and/or homelessness effected populations.

·        Must possess good written, oral, and computer skills (Microsoft Suite 7.0 and higher).

·        Ability to successfully pass a Criminal Background screening

·        Ability to successfully pass a Pennsylvania Child Abuse clearance

·        Ability to work evenings and weekends, including the ability to work a staggered scheduled to accommodate agency’s staffing patterns and needs.

 

 

PHYSICAL & WORK ENVIROMENT:    

 

·        A moderate degree of physical labor is required for distributing donations such as:

o  lifting boxes

o  climbing stairs

·        Standing for extended amounts of time.

·        Walking for extended periods of the day.

·        Sitting for up to 8 hours per day, 4 hours at a time.

·        Frequently uses fingers for data entry.

·        Uses upper extremities to lift - up to 30 pounds.

·        Stoops, bends, and reaches above shoulder level as needed.

·        Hearing as it relates to in-person and phone conversations.

·        Seeing as it relates to general and computer vision.

·        Speaking/talking frequently
