This is a rare opportunity to make a difference and effect positive change in the long term and direct-care healthcare industries. We are looking for a talented and skilled professional to join our dynamic team in a grant funded position as a Philadelphia-based Employment Retention Specialist. The Employment Retention Specialist will work with the project manager to implement and execute employer retention initiatives. This position requires someone who understands the unique challenges of the workforce and healthcare industry and is understanding of the intense work demands needed to quickly design and implement this innovative approach.

We take pride in providing high quality, innovative healthcare training and education to frontline workers to help them forge a pathway to higher skilled job opportunities while meeting the staffing needs of the healthcare industry and its employers and improving quality for the patients, residents and clients.

The District 1199C Training & Upgrading Fund and the SEIU Health Care PA Education & Training Fund will partner with the Pennsylvania Health Care Association to provide effective, high-quality, career pathway-based occupational training and certification to 1,000 Pennsylvanians focused in, but not limited to, the Philadelphia and Pittsburgh metropolitan regions.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

General

  • Work with project manager and project partners to identify and onboard employer partners
  • Focus on building a mentorship program at various facilities with on-going training and support of the mentors and mentees
  • Create a pathway for establishing and maintaining rapport with mentors through pre-program advising, instruction, and mentorship responsibilities
  • Monitor the employee relations climate and proactively assists employers in identifying, developing and implementing strategies to boost retention and reduce turnover and retain a strong workforce as an employer of choice in the community
  • Make appropriate recommendations in regards to action planning/implementation
  • Regularly enters services and outcome data into the Salesforce database
  • Attend meetings as requested
  • Other responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field
  • At least three years of experience in employment retention, human resources, workforce development, employer-facing case management or similar roles
  • Ability to work with a wide variety of people
  • Ability to work independently as well as with a team
  • Exceptional organization and time management skills
  • Customer excellence attitude
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Fluency in English and Spanish preferred
  • Strong project management skills and attention to detail
  • Strong skills with Microsoft Office, Internet and virtual platforms; Salesforce experience a plus
  • Must have valid drivers’ license and ability to travel
  • Experience in and/or understanding of union environments, especially in healthcare and human services settings, is highly desirable.

Work Requirements:

Work is primarily conducted from a home-based office. There will be times the candidate may be required to work from one of our regional offices. Must be able to travel (NOTE: Subject to significant alteration for the duration of the COVID-19 pandemic) and work flexible hours, with some evening hours required.

Compensation:

Generous employee benefits package including paid time off, pension, healthcare and education benefits. Salary based on experience, ranging from $40,000 - $45,000.

Work is primarily conducted remotely at this time. Individuals working in-person at our Center City Philadelphia office are required to take COVID-19 precautions as outlined in the City's Return to Work Guidance when doing so.
