Job Summary: The Director of Development and Strategic Partnerships serves as a key leadership team member and an active participant in making strategic decisions that affect the growth of Wellness in the Schools. The successful candidate will help forge new relationships to build our visibility, impact, and financial resources. The Director of Development and Strategic Partnerships will design and implement a comprehensive plan for developing key external alliances by cultivating individual and philanthropic support.

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s preferred, and 7+ years of relevant experience, preferably in the wellness space.
  • Demonstrated success in a business development function (managing and forging relationships with multiple donor sources)
  • Tangible experience of having expanded and cultivated existing donor relationships over time
  • Track record of securing at least $3MM annually in fundraising efforts
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral; ability to influence and engage a wide range of donors and build long-term relationships
  • Ability to work both independently without close oversight, but also a team player who will productively engage with others at varying levels of seniority within and outside Wellness in the Schools
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with exceptional attention to detail
  • Flexible and adaptable style; a leader who can positively impact both strategic and tactical fundraising initiatives
  • High energy and passion for Wellness in the Schools’ mission
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office, Google Apps, and Salesforce

Job Responsibilities:

  • Work with Executive Director and Board of Directors to develop and execute a development strategy to include corporate, foundation, government grants; events; individuals; etc. Oversee all such initiatives
  • Develop and execute a communications strategy that supports fundraising and organizational growth
  • Work with Executive Director and Board of Directors to develop a cultivation plan and a stewardship program to acquire new donors, and to deepen ties with existing donors
  • Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with major donors
  • Have primary responsibility for development and execution of all grant proposals; write and archive all proposals with a long-term relationship-management approach
  • Oversee research funding sources and trends, with foresight
  • Monitor all donor information; provide and present statistical analysis to Executive Director, senior leaders, and Board of Directors
  • Identify, develop, and mentor the development team
  • Provide leadership and staff service to the Board of Directors in carrying out fundraising responsibilities, and assist in recruiting for and expanding the Board
  • Supervise usage of Salesforce including gift entry and donor acknowledgement
