Wellness in the Schools (WITS) is a national non-profit that teaches kids healthy habits to learn and live better. We partner with public schools to provide nutrition and fitness education, healthy scratch-cooked meals and active recess periods. Our approach improves student outcomes and drives systemic, long-term change, shifting school cultures.


  • A bachelor’s degree and 1+ years of relevant experience in a development or communications role
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Experience with and a passion for social media
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office required; experience with Salesforce or similar CRM preferred
  • Ability to thrive in a fast paced, collaborative, ever changing environment
  • Ability to multi-task and to exercise good judgment
  • Detail oriented and deadline focused

Responsibilities (including, but not limited to):

  • Conduct ongoing outreach and research of potential corporate, government, and foundations for partnership and grant opportunities
  • Assist with grant proposal writing and outreach; including editing and tracking
  • Support the maintenance of a seasonal fundraising outreach calendar
  • Engage new and existing WITS network via scheduled donor asks, outreach, and strategic engagement opportunities
  • Support creation and presentation of quarterly fundraising analysis with key successes and necessary adjustments to reach yearly goals
  • Track relationships, donations, and pledges via Salesforce
  • Support a portfolio of WITS based fundraising/marketing events. Calendar includes, but is not limited to: WITS Gala (annual tasting event), Move for Kids, Sportime Pro-Am, Fall Harvest Dinner, NYC Marathon, WITS Associate Council, salon dinners, and annual giving campaign. Includes:
  • Liaison with contractors
  • Managing marketing/promotion, fundraising, day of coordination, press relations, social media
  • Tracking event details, attendee contacts, etc via Salesforce
  • Work collaboratively across WITS team and network to implement expanded communications initiatives
  • Manage and expand social media engagement for WITS via content delivery, tracking, and outreach
  • Create, update and distribute WITS branded materials, including but not limited to: brochures, annual report, outreach power points, SWAG, conference materials, seasonal newsletters
  • Assist with donor acknowledgement including thank you letters and SWAG/gift fulfillment
