Associate - Thought Leadership and Communications


Position Description: The Associate works closely with the Officer of Thought Leadership to further the Department’s efforts: supporting the development and implementation of education programs, content creation, communication strategy, as well as a wide range of initiatives, including the creation and expansion of new and existing programs.  


Job Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist in the planning and organizing of education programs and strategic initiatives
  • Undertake independent research to support the drafting of thought leadership papers and communication materials (reports, case studies, blogs, stories of philanthropy, e-blasts, 1-pagers, and more)
  • Work with the Officer and the Vice President of Thought Leadership on delivering new episodes of the CAF America Radio Network
  • Author original content supporting thought leadership papers and CAF America’s communication strategy
  • Participate in the preparation of promotional materials (backgrounders, brochures, banners, and more) ensuring their timely publishing and distribution
  • Provide logistical support in management of CAF America events and 3rd party conferences
  • Identify resources and service providers for planned programs
  • Initiate and coordinate interdepartmental collaboration whenever necessary
  • Coordinate, as assigned, the day-to-day activities of department initiatives in various stages of planning
  • Support the management of CAF America’s social media platform

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (advanced degree is preferred)
  • Previous experience in a related field and/or knowledge of the nonprofit sector is an advantage
  • Exceptional research, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and proven ability to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment with rapidly changing priorities
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail, with the ability to synthesize, analyze, critique, and offer recommendations
  • Ability to work independently and effectively under strict deadlines
  • Ability to successfully collaborate with colleagues within and outside of the organization


Reporting

The Associate reports to Officer of Thought Leadership

Salary Range (typical hire mid-point): $37,500- $44,000* (plus annual bonus of up to 6%)

NOTE: This position is located in Alexandria VA across the street from the King Street DC Metro Station. No financial support for relocation is provided.
