Description

The Community Partnerships Manager leads various projects designed to grow organizational services and expand impact. The position is integral to advancing the organization’s recently adopted multi-year strategic direction. This position holds an important role in cultivating strong relationships, assessing and meeting professional development needs, inspiring engagement, and effectively leading earned income and fundraising campaigns that forge new partnerships in the community. 


Reports to Director of Development. Works as part of the development team which includes Executive Director and Development and Communications Coordinator. Works in collaboration with staff, board members and contractors who also serve as fundraisers within the organization. Maintains good working relationships with staff, constituents, board members, volunteers, donors and partner organizations that aligns with the organization’s values and culture. 


Responsibilities

Earned Income Strategy (aprx. 45%)

  • Develops, implements and oversees a comprehensive earned income strategy in collaboration with the Director of Development and program team to grow earned income revenue and increase access to CalSAC services.
  • In collaboration with the program team, supports out-of-school time organizations with identifying professional development plans and accessing CalSAC resources resulting in an increase in community partnerships and an expansion in services.
  • Cultivates and maintains relationships with practitioners in the out-of-school time field to strengthen CalSAC’s role as a trusted and valued partner through phone and email correspondence, in-person meetings, and attending community events.
  • Develops marketing collateral to advance the promotion and expansion of program services to be utilized by development and program staff including communications messaging, case statements and studies, infographics and flyers, and proposal templates.
  • Stays up-to-date with trends and needs in the youth development field and works with program team to inform and develop resources to meet identified and timely needs.

Individual Donor Fundraising (aprx 25%)

  • Develops, leads and manages annual year-end fundraising campaign including defining milestones, campaign deadlines, tools, and messaging. Supports the Director of Development with connecting the peer-to-peer fundraising program to the year-end campaign.
  • Advances a culture of giving across the organization and the out-of-school time field by engaging staff, board, donors and constituents in fundraising. Manages an annual donor portfolio of current and prospective donors, engages constituents in various campaigns, solicits donations and provides training and tools where needed.
  • Develops and implements a donor retention strategy in partnership with the Director of Development to honor, celebrate and keep CalSAC donors informed throughout the year; oversees distribution of donor tax letters and thank you gifts.
  • Supports the Board of Directors in the planning and implementation of annual online auction, providing tools and resources to acquire items and manages the process from beginning to end - from the acquisition of items to marketing, to facilitating winners’ payments and receipt of items.

Sponsorship (aprx 15%)

  • Leads efforts to identify, cultivate and attain community and business sponsorships and partnerships to support events and programs through monetary and in-kind donations.
  • Maintains and strengthens relationships with sponsors throughout the year – providing updates on program impact and inviting sponsors to events and opportunities to see CalSAC programs in action.

Project Management (aprx 15%)

  • Creates project budgets, monitors budget expenditures and submits receipts for reporting and reimbursement in a timely manner.
  • Develops and monitors projects and deliverables using long and short-term plans including project plans, annual and quarterly team plans, and monthly and weekly work plans. Makes modifications and improvements as needed in collaboration with the Director of Development.  
  • Conducts regular evaluation of projects to measure impact and effectiveness and to inform modifications to the strategy. Coordinates data analysis and the production of reports in partnership with the development team.
  • Develops and maintains efficient systems for organizing and administrating work. Works creatively to improve systems, elevate communications, streamline processes, and give constituents the best experience possible.
  • Participates in organizational retreats, staff development and culture building activities. Provides general office support as needed including back-up on phones, mailing, copying, filing and other office duties.

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience with progressively increasing responsibilities; may include project development and management, fundraising, membership recruitment, partnership cultivation, or sales and marketing.
  • Demonstrated experience building relationships, growing programs and generating revenue.
  • Experience in the nonprofit sector and in the out-of-school time field desired, especially with professional development and training.
  • Education and/or professional development in relevant areas of study.

  • Ability to excel in a highly collaborative and dynamic environment requiring flexibility and comfort with ambiguity. Works well independently and with others in a team office environment.
  • Flexibility and willingness to learn new skills and tools to best manage work across a large geographic area and diverse field.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and Outlook programs. Proficiency or comfort with back-end applications for managing website content and data including Salesforce or an equivalent.
  • Ability and willingness to work evening and weekend hours, including overnight travel. Position requires extensive computer work and some lifting (up to 40lbs).
