The Opportunity

We are hiring a Business Development Manager to help us grow Turning Leaf’s screen-printing business, a social enterprise that employs men out of prison. We launched the print shop in 2017 and have been “making it work” for the last four years but we’re too big now to rely on friends and family to support Turning Leaf’s growth. This year we’re opening a second location in Columbia, SC. People love our mission and want to support us, but there’s a problem - most people don’t know our Print Shop exists. We need your help! Use your sales experience to make a difference in the world. You won’t just be selling a product. Every print shop order gives a job and a second chance to someone who’s returning home from prison. The Business Developer Manager’s primary responsibility is to generate print shop orders for our Charleston and new Columbia location. They will also work with community partners to identify and cultivate potential job placement opportunities for program graduates. Additional daily responsibilities include administrative support of print shop operations and ongoing engagement with our current customer base. The position works in close coordination with the Print Shop Manager to ensure a high-level of customer satisfaction and timely production of orders. The Business Development Manager reports to the Executive Director. The position can be based from either our Charleston or Columbia office with an option to work remotely when not needed in person.

About Us

Working with men returning home from prison who are at the highest risk of re-arrest, Turning Leaf combines behavioral therapy (CBT), one-on-one counseling, on-site transitional employment, and job placement to offer a proven model of prison reentry with an 80% success rate. We’re small – eleven staff total – but we’re growing fast. We currently operate in Charleston, SC with the plan of expanding to two additional South Carolina cities over the next three years.

The atmosphere is laid back and casual, but there is an expectation of high performance. We take training and continuous improvement seriously and are always looking for opportunities to get better. We embrace change. Things don’t stay the same around here for very long.

What You’ll Do

  • Analyze performance metrics to make data-driven decisions and use this data to create accurate sales forecasts and find opportunities for improvement and growth.
  • Provide a first point of contact for potential customers, helping them through the quoting and ordering process.
  • Coordinate closely with Turning Leaf’s Print Shop Managers in both Charleston and Columbia to ensure a successful handoff to the production team.
  • Coordinate with the Director of Communication to execute a Print Shop digital sales strategy.
  • Maintain an accurate record of all leads, customer accounts, and sales.
  • After order completion, manage customer payment and ensure satisfaction.
  • Identify potential job placement opportunities within the community.
