About Heading Home

Heading Home is Boston’s leading provider of housing and support services for infants to elderly – a

champion of innovative solutions that move people through and out of homelessness. Heading Home provides emergency shelter, transitional housing, permanent housing, and supportive services to 1,400 homeless and formerly homeless families and individuals in Greater Boston, annually. The supportive services alongside housing helps clients create futures without homelessness. On any given night, Heading Home clients include 480+ households living stably

with support in Greater Boston neighborhoods.

With 47 years of history and a growing awareness as a leading non-profit in Boston, it’s a very exciting time to be joining Heading Home’s Development team. As a participating teammate in our donor-centered fundraising efforts, the Development Associate, Community Engagement (DACE) plays an integral role in cultivating Heading Home’s donor base. She/he develops and executes a portfolio of annual volunteer events with individual and corporate donors, that build awareness and deepen engagement with Heading Home. The Development team views volunteering as a stewardship effort and the DACE is a driver in building new relationships and strengthening current partnerships. In keeping with varying COVID protocols and precautions, the majority of volunteer events are presently being held outside or virtual. As conditions allow, we expect more in-person volunteering to return.

The successful DACE is a self-starter who is enthusiastic about creating and hosting meaningful volunteer experiences. She/he is an excellent communicator, well-versed in outlining project plans and event logistics both verbally and in writing. The DACE is highly fluent in independently managing projects with multiple constituents. She/he thrives in a dynamic environment adeptly interfacing with all stakeholders, navigating potentially conflicting priorities and uncontrollable factors, as part of the event process. The DACE works amongst a team that values high attention to detail, resilient problem-solving, and responsiveness.

This is an outstanding opportunity for a developing leader to join a fast-paced, collaborative, and creative fundraising team to manage Heading Home’s volunteer program, and build partnerships that support the critically important work of Heading Home.
