Resilience is an independent, not-for-profit organization dedicated to the healing and empowerment of sexual assault survivors through non-judgmental crisis intervention counseling, individual and group trauma therapy, and medical and legal advocacy in the greater Chicago metropolitan area. Resilience provides public education and institutional advocacy in order to improve the treatment of sexual assault survivors and to effect positive change in policies and public attitudes toward sexual assault.

We are seeking a Volunteer Advocacy Coordinator to join our team. The Advocacy Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for the recruitment, training, scheduling and supervision of advocacy volunteers and advocacy interns. This position is responsible for managing and implementing the daily functions of the 24-hour crisis response services provided to Resilience’s partner hospitals. In addition, the Volunteer Advocacy Coordinator will provide on-call coverage for assigned and rotating shifts as part of our 24-hour hospital crisis response. This position must be available to work evening and some weekend hours.

This position will initially work from home, as Resilience is working remotely during the COVID pandemic.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, counseling, or psychology, or related field required.
  • Previous supervision, training, and public speaking experience required.
  • Previous experience working with diverse populations required.
  • Previous volunteer management experience and experience providing advocacy services to crime victims strongly preferred.
  • Must have excellent organizational, documentation, and data tracking skills.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Completion of 40-hours of sexual assault training by an Illinois Coalition Against Sexual Assault (ICASA) member center required within 60 days of hire; previous completion of this training is strongly preferred
  • Flexibility to work evenings and some weekends required.
