Job Title:

Programs Director 

Description & Responsibilities:

This is a full-time, exempt position. The Programs Director is responsible for overseeing all ING Programs which include the following:

  • Islamic Speakers Bureau (ISB), made up of Muslim American speakers who supplement education about Muslims and their faith in the context of academic education and cultural diversity programming in various professional settings.
  • Interfaith Speakers Bureau (IFSB), consisting of panels of speakers who represent the five major world religions, the program increases religious literacy in academic and cultural diversity programming in various professional settings.
  • Intercultural Speakers Bureau (ICSB), consisting of panels of speakers who represent ethnic and religious communities, the program addresses the roots and manifestations of bigotry in all its forms and suggests ways to counter it at both the personal and structural levels that are suitable for academic and professional settings.
  • Know Your Neighbor (KYN), consisting of dozens of interfaith and community organizations, the program promotes peace-building engagements through education and face to face encounters at the grassroots level.
  • INGYouth, made up of teen Muslim speakers who supplement education about Muslims in their schools while promoting intercultural programs that prevent and counter bullying.
  • INGAffiliates, supports organized efforts that replicate ING’s work in local towns and regions.

Specifically, the Programs Director’s responsibilities include managing the development and growth of all existing ING programs in the following areas:

  • Recruiting and managing staff, speakers and organizational partners for all programs.
  • Fulfilling requests for all programs.
  • Managing speaker trainings and certifications in partnership with other departments.
  • Marketing of programs using various types of communication channels that include social and traditional media.
  • Overseeing impact evaluation and analyses of programs.
  • Speaking as well as facilitating panels.
  • Public relations for the organization, as well as acting on behalf of the CEO as needed.

A successful candidate for this position should have at least five years’ experience in corporate (either not for profit or for profit) business sales or marketing management. The candidate must be well organized, resourceful, and detail oriented. They should also be driven and creative and possess knowledge of Muslim American communities as well as have working knowledge of the interfaith and interethnic communities in the United States through paid work or volunteering efforts.

Skills Requirements:

The Programs Director should have demonstrated success in the following areas:

  • Leading sales, marketing or educational programs with a track record of success in meeting goals.
  • Managing direct and indirect reports with a track record of success in fulfilling objectives.
  • Excellent organizational abilities while performing in a multi-task environment using project management software. Knowledge of Salesforce is a huge plus.
  • Cultivating relationships, working effectively with, and presenting a professional image to diverse constituencies.
  • Strong interpersonal and presentation skills to work effectively with senior management, board members, speakers, volunteers, donors, and staff from different departments and with diverse community groups.
  • Writing marketing and communications content for different media platforms including social media.
  • Designing and managing impact evaluation programs, social media campaigns and advertising.

Education/Experience Requirements: 

A successful candidate for this position should have at least five years’ experience in corporate (either not-for-profit or for-profit) sales, marketing or education management, as well as at least a master’s degree in education and/or a business-related field. A doctorate in education with not-for-profit management experience are huge pluses. The candidate must be well organized, resourceful, and detail oriented. They should also be driven, creative and possess knowledge of Muslim American communities, as well as have working knowledge of the diverse faiths and ethnicities in the United States through paid work or volunteering efforts. 

Reporting Relationships and Location:

The Programs Director reports to the Chief Executive Officer and will work remotely, with preference given to working out of the DC Area, Chicago or the San Francisco Bay Area.

Salary:

Full benefits package including 401K, and salary ranging from $75K to 95K, based upon experience.
