We’re currently hiring an Agency Relations Coordinator. This position serves as Food Lifeline’s liaison to support assigned member agencies with the safe handling and distribution of Food Lifeline products. This position provides technical assistance, consultation, and advocacy on behalf of the member agency network.

General Position Summary:

The Agency Relations team manages relationships and strengthens partnerships with our member

agency network of food banks and pantries, community meal programs, shelters, and other hungerrelief programs. The Agency Relations Coordinator serves as Food Lifeline’s liaison to support

assigned member agencies with the safe handling and distribution of Food Lifeline products. This

position provides technical assistance, consultation, and advocacy on behalf of the member agency

network.


Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities:

• Acts as a liaison between Food Lifeline and member agencies within a region to build collaborative

relationships, assist in achieving network goals, gather and share best practices, and support

agencies in the development of new or innovative programs.

• Receives calls and addresses concerns from agency partners and other Food Lifeline departments.

• Provides technical consulting, training, and assistance to agency staff, board members and

volunteers. Updates our agency contact lists and helps acclimate new agency leaders to Food

Lifeline policies and procedures.

• Conducts regular on-site monitoring visits to member agencies to audit and review compliance

with Food Lifeline requirements. Assists agencies with corrective action and remediation plans as

needed. Makes recommendations, connects partners to resources, and monitors progress

towards correction. Alerts Agency Relations Manager to problems or changes to agency status.

• Promptly responds to agency calls, requests for information, and complaints. Documents issues

and ensures they are satisfactorily answered.

• Maintains all related agency documentation, files and information in Food Lifeline’s database.

• Keeps Community Partnerships department staff apprised of all relevant agency updates.

• Represents Food Lifeline at community, county, and regional gatherings. Shares best practices and

collaborates on efforts to address the needs of people experiencing food insecurity.


Secondary Functions:

• Advises and trains agencies in safe handling of food products and distribution practices.

Participates in the process for food safety recalls and communicates to member agencies and

partners.

• Supports the Agency Distribution Coordinator with online ordering tasks. Provides backup

customer service to agencies picking up from the Hunger Solutions Center.

• Supports the Lead Agency Relations Representative in new member agency orientations, topical

trainings, and workshops. Participates in biennial Member Agency Conference activities.

• Contributes to monthly agency newsletter and other communication pieces.

• Participates in annual agency survey efforts and drives agency engagement.

• Works with other Food Lifeline departments and supports other organization needs as required.

• Other duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications:

• High School diploma or GED equivalent.

• At least one year of experience in complex customer service, accounts management, or project

management.

• Willingness and ability to obtain Washington State food handler’s permit within 30 days of hire.

• Willingness and ability to obtain ServSafe Certification within 90 days of hire.

• Valid Washington State Driver’s License and the willingness and ability to operate a motor

vehicle for local travel.

• Must have a demonstrated understanding of the intersections between hunger, poverty, racial

inequity and social injustice. Must have awareness of the issues faced by community members

experiencing poverty or facing food insecurity.

• Ability to work well with a wide variety of people, to communicate clearly and effectively both

verbally and in writing, and to work collaboratively.

• Attention to detail and accuracy.

• Experiencing using Microsoft Office to complete tasks such as word processing, formatting

reports and spreadsheets, using pivot tables, and sending emails.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Up-to-date understanding of food safety regulations.

• Willingness and ability to drive a vehicle for job-related responsibilities.

• Experience using SmartSheet or other data management platforms.

Job Conditions:

Work is performed in a variety of settings. When at Food Lifeline, work is performed in an office setting

with adequate lighting, heating and ventilation. Visits to member agencies require driving short and long

distances in a variety of traffic, road and weather conditions. Member agency facilities may be office,

warehouse or food processing environments of various temperatures. Work requires patience and tact

when meeting defensiveness or resistance. Position requires professional appearance and demeanor.

Position may require occasional overtime, weekend, or evening hours. Depending upon region assigned,

may require overnight travel.


Physical Demands:

Requires extended periods of sitting, use of desktop computer terminal/keyboarding, and the ability to

routinely lift and carry up to 10 pounds. Requires continuous talking and listening, in person and by

phone. Requires ability to operate a motor vehicle. Requires frequent prolonged sitting while driving a

vehicle.
