About the Position

Responsible for retail operations and overseeing the production area. In the absence of the manager, assume management responsibilities.

Job Summary:

  • Spend time on the retail floor and checking workflow and individual performance.
  • Implement and track ongoing training of personnel concerning pricing and merchandising.
  • Responsible for handling cash, checks, closing tills, and customer service.
  • Oversee all cashiering, banking, and training.
  • Train and manage all supervisors, set their work schedules, and make assignments.
  • Handle customer relations as needed.
  • Responsible for reviewing performance and retail needs with supervisors and the store manager on a regular basis.
  • Oversee rotations and merchandising on the sales floor.
  • Maintain all retail supplies.
  • Support the cross training of staff with goal of having all staff able to perform in all areas.
  • Communicate effectively with other Seattle Goodwill departments.
  • Assume full store responsibility in manager's absence, including but not limited to directing the activities of store personnel.
  • Maintain all store records and sales records.
  • Ensure that all employee counseling and incident reports are completed in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Assist customers and donors in a timely and courteous manner.
  • Manage disposal of garbage, recycling and hazardous waste materials in a cost saving manner and according to applicable regulations.
  • Support the manager in ensuring the store and surrounding premises are kept clean.
  • Uphold safe work practices in support of a safety culture through awareness and observation; train and educate employees of safety requirements; reports any potential hazards or accidents.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Goodwill's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; monitoring performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; and addressing complaints and resolving problems. Partner with People Relations as needed and appropriate.
