THE POSITION

Hawken School is seeking a Psychologist or other licensed Mental Health professional committed to supporting the total child. Candidates should be eager to work in a dynamic and collaborative team-based environment with thoughtful individuals committed to doing school better. Candidates will serve as a member of the Support Services team and serve a broad range of constituents, including, students, faculty, parents, and administrators.  As such, flexibility, adaptability, and problem-solving skills will be critical factors in our search.  


ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILTIES

·       Partner with Lower School grade-level teams to respond to and manage psychosocial, developmental, and academic referrals for students in grades K-5

·       Participate in weekly Support Services and grade-level team meetings to discuss student-progress, evaluation results and recommendations

·       Offer consultation, brief counseling, support, and crisis intervention for students, parents, and colleagues

·       Facilitate student and teacher discussion groups around areas of social-emotional growth, child development, and identity development

·       Interpret psycho-educational assessments

·       Draft and share learning plans and strategies with faculty and parents

·       Partner with all school Support Service team (Toddler-12) to support students, families, faculty and staff schoolwide, as needed

·       Perform other duties as assigned by the Lower School Director or Head of School

QUALIFICATIONS

A master’s or doctorate degree in psychology or related field is required. 

·       Demonstrated competence and leadership in support services, preferably in an independent or private school setting. Candidates in private practice who have experience with private school consultation may also be considered. 

·       Demonstrated experience working in a diverse community with strong cross-cultural competency skills.

·       Experience with R.U.L.E.R, out of Yale University’s Center for Emotional Intelligence, preferred

·       Exceptional understanding of the developmental needs of elementary level learners

·       A joyful enthusiasm for elementary level learners

·       Flexibility, energy, creativity, high expectations and a sense of humor

·       A willingness and eagerness to assist in the life of the School
