Metro HomeShare Client Services Coordinator (part-time)

PURPOSE OF POSITIONMetro HomeShare (MHS) is a program of the Ecumenical Ministries of Oregon that brings together people who need housing with those who have available space in a way that benefits both. The program contributes to safe and affording housing in our community, fosters financial stability and independence, and creates community. MHS provides comprehensive screening of clients, informative client orientations, computer-based matching database, and supportive case management. The Client Services Coordinator will be responsible for work relating to MHS clients. This person will help develop resource referral procedures and work with community agencies in identifying resources for MHS clients. Additionally, the Client Services Coordinator will assist the Program Manager in overseeing BSW interns as needed.

ACCOUNTABILITY: To the mission and goals of Ecumenical Ministries of Oregon (EMO) as directed by the Board of Directors and Executive Director of Ecumenical Ministries of Oregon.

REPORTS TO: Metro HomeShare Program Manager.


POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: The Client Services Coordinator will work with the Program Assistant to conduct client services, create a resource referral guide that is relevant to the needs of our clients. Provide oversight for best social work/case management practices in order to improve MHS programs. When BSW interns serve at MHS, they will assist in supervising and managing intern workload.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Home Provider client services
  • Home/Site visits
  • Data entry
  • Creating and maintaining resource referral guide
  • Building connections with community agencies


  • Ability to work within the mission, vision and ethics of EMO, and maintain an understanding of the services provided by the programs and projects of EMO.
  • At least two years’ experience working in a direct-service or social services environment.
  • Ability to remain confidential and work in a professional manner.
  • Experience and comfort working with clients at off site locations, for example: home visits, site visits, etc. Vehicle required for this position. Must possess valid driver’s license and evidence of insurability.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • High level of organization and prioritization skills.
  • Excellent listening and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Windows tools, applications, and using computer-based client databases.
  • Data entry and records keeping experience.
  • Working knowledge of human services agencies in the Portland metro area.
  • Prior experience working with seniors.
  • Prior experience working with communities facing housing instability and homelessness.
  • Willingness and ability to work in respectful manner with people of diverse ethnicity, socio-economic circumstances, religion, culture and sexual orientation.


1. LCSW or MSW. 

2. Working knowledge of the housing crisis in the Portland metro area. 

3. Current First Aid and CPR certification.


1. Responsible for working collaboratively with Metro HomeShare Program Assistant to develop procedures for client intakes and home visit assessments. 

2. Ensure that data entry, both off-site and in-office, are accurate and coincide with all client-based databases. 

3. Assists in and management and supervision of BSW intern program. 

4. Provide informal and formal support, including crisis management, problem solving and information for client referrals. Provide additional support to clients with multiple barriers, such as clients with disabilities. 

5. Work collaboratively with EMO programs and other social services agencies to identify relevant referral opportunities for MHS clients. 


WORK HOURS: 20 hours per week. Occasional work on evenings and on weekends will be required.

LOCATION: MHS office (10011 SE Division St., Suite 314, Portland), and other offsite locations.
