Quality Assurance (QA) Case Aide

SKIP of New York is a not-for-profit agency that, through the Care at Home Program, helps New York's sickest children, connecting children with services and equipment they need to heal and live at home rather than in hospitals and institutions. SKIP's services allow children to participate in their schools and communities and to realize their full potential. Through service coordination, advocacy and hands-on problem solving, SKIP case managers make sure the children they work with each year get that chance.


Qualifications

Entry level position requiring an Associate's Degree in the health/human services or related field

at minimum. Experience working within the human services field serving individuals with

developmental disabilities or complex medical conditions preferred. At least one year of related

experience preferred. The ideal candidate should possess keen attention to detail and strong

organizational and analytic abilities. Prior exposure to quality-related positions is helpful.

Reports To: The Director of Programs and lead QA Coordinator; participates in a team-based

management model.


Position Overview

The function of Quality Assurance is to ensure the best possible work product for the individuals

we support, their families, and the organizations with which we interact. This position is an

administrative support providing Quality Assurance for the CAH Department. The case aide

generally works alongside the lead QA Coordinator staff to help facilitate the completion of

necessary tasks as determined by QA or the Director of Programs.


Possible duties for Case Aide position include:

• Conducting comprehensive reviews of client records

• Conducting follow-up to obtain essential documentation from the LDSS/DDRO

• Audits: completing audits on caseloads including introductory audits, full audits, billing audits,

audits of records in the process of closure and/or transition out of CAH, external state/OMIG

audits, and preparing the case files to be scanned.

• Providing ongoing support to case managers and supervisory staff in ensuring that all billing

and compliance standards are upheld.

• Utilizing internal tracking systems to monitor compliance of required eligibility documents.

• Reviewing and processing CAH reassessment packets to be sent to county offices.

• Providing feedback to supervisors on billing and case management standards for supervisory

appraisal processes.

• Ensuring that staff address the needs of the families served in a consistent and timely

manner.

• Assisting with and updating shared lists of resources and agency/provider contact information

to be used by staff.

• Assisting with new hire initial overview training and case manager retraining on program

policies as needed.

• Providing support to case management staff by attending monthly visits for consumers when

needed.

Audits of client records may entail the following tasks:

• Reviewing cases in a continual cycle unless instructed to review specific cases or a specific

series of cases.

• Technical review consists of (a) chart conformity to SKIP filing protocol; (b) review of current

documentation for timeliness; (c) review of current documentation for content; (d) review of

technical eligibility processes; (e) review of technical programmatic issues; ( f) review of case

management issues; and, (g) review of case management processes.

Position Responsibilities

Understand and follow all SKIP agency and program-related policies and procedures.   Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills.

  Team-oriented and able to work well with in support of other team members and with various

  other internal and external personnel.

Be able to regularly report statuses of audits pending or in progress.

  Maintain CANS-NY certification.

  Satisfy ongoing training requirements. Effectively work within Health Commerce System,

Uniform Assessment System (UAS), MAPP-Health Home Tracking System, Health Home Care

Management electronic health record systems, using various other health information

technology as required. Complete additional CAH, Health Home and agency-specific trainings

as needed.

Demonstrate strong organizational skills including maintenance of physical and electronic

health records and maintain all compliance requirements.

Ensure client confidentiality and privacy is maintained.

  Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

• Be able to physically handle large case binders.

Attend regular staff meetings and supervision meetings.

  Assist with various other special projects as assigned.

Overall, the Quality Assurance Case Aide will assist with ensuring that compliance is maintained

throughout the program and agency.
