Catholic Charities of Los Angeles, Inc. is a 501 © (3) non-profit public benefit corporation that serves people without regard to race, sex, age, or religion. The Immigration Department of Catholic Charities is a Board of Immigration Appeals recognized agency that has served thousands of immigrants and refugees over many decades. IRD provides immigration and refugee services, including refugee resettlement and legal applications for naturalization, deferred action for childhood arrivals, religious workers visas, and family-based immigration petitions. 

Position Over View

The Immigration department is seeking a Program Development Manager that will work exclusively with the Program Director.   The Development Manager is directly responsible for the strategic development and implementation of Immigrations revenue generating activities including partnerships, sponsorships and an annual fundraiser plan that encompasses cultivating and maintaining relationships with new and existing donors and supporters, developing and building a major gifts program, stewarding government funding, and researching and writing grant proposals and reports. The Development Manager is also responsible for overseeing fundraising events and supporting third party fundraising initiatives.


  • Develop the Immigration Program's prospect pipeline and assist the Director in identifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding prospects/funders;
  • Keep up-to-date on the programs current fundraising , practices and procedures used and inform Director of items that would benefit the program;
  • Create and implement a sponsorship program, major gifts program, a planned giving program, and a volunteer giving program;
  • Research and develop funding proposals for Immigration programs, and community investment, and other similar funds;
  • Manage, track and report on all grant projects and sponsorships;
  • Build and maintain relationships with donors of all types, develop strategies for solicitation, and solicit or coordinate the solicitations;
  • ;Responsible for the supervision and management of the fundraising database,
  • Organize and plan events;
  • Supervise mailings and publications;


  • Strong written and verbal English language skills combined with excellent communication, research, report writing and presentation skills;
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision – self-motivated & confident;
  • Exceptional understanding of private philanthropy as it relates to charitable organizations;
  • Sound judgement and decision-making skills and the ability to work independently;
  • Excellent organizational skills, ability to effectively multi-task and attention to details are critical;
  • Proven experience and success in securing gifts, partnerships and grants as well as direct response and event fundraising
  • Creative, out of the box thinker;

Educational and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Communications, Non-Profit Fundraising, or other related field;
  • A minimum of 5 to 7 years of experience managing grant applications, grants, government contracts;
  • Fundraising techniques, including donor database
