Position Summary:

The Human Resources Generalist, under limited supervision, performs complex and confidential human resources functions as they relate to HRIS management, data analytics, compensation, project management, workplace relations, employee recognition and reporting ensuring compliance with all applicable legal requirements. The Human Resources Generalist works in coordination with the Human Resources team to lead the Agency in engaging and retaining a talented mission driven workforce. All NVFS employees are expected to demonstrate the organizational values and sensitivity to the diversity of the organization’s client base.

Essential Job Duties:

HRIS Management and Data Analytics

  • Serves as an HRIS subject matter expert and advances the capabilities of all aspects of HRIS (e.g. benefits, career development, employee self-service, and recruiting)
  • Reviews and implements HRIS updates, tests system functionality, provides technical support, and works with end users to provide HRIS support and troubleshoot HRIS problems
  • Recommends process improvements, innovative solutions, policy changes and utilizes change management skills during implementation
  • Manages HRIS business rules, content, data flows, and other system-wide design components
  • Designs and develops user guides, procedures and other documentation and conducts related HRIS training
  • Serves as the point of contact for all HRIS related issues, inquires, maintenance and reports
  • Ensures employment records are accurate in HRIS by regularly reviewing data entry of employee personnel, benefits, status and salary changes in a timely manner according to the Agency’s payroll schedule
  • Generates reports and queries, including writing, maintaining and supporting a variety of reports or queries utilizing appropriate reporting tools; establishes and maintains a comprehensive HRIS reports library; analyzes data on ongoing basis, as requested, to ensure that business decisions are made with accurate information on employee population and trends
  • Completes annual reports and surveys: HR talent report, EEO-1 & various compensation surveys
  • Maintains awareness of current trends in HRIS with a focus on product and customer service development, delivery and support
  • Acts as a liaison with third parties and other stakeholders (e.g., payroll and IT)


  • Actively participates in maintenance of and updates to the NVFS salary structure
  • Provides data and analyses needed to determine agency-wide annual salary increases in partnership with program directors and other senior leaders
  • Processes agency-wide annual salary increases

Project Management

  • Coordinates all aspects of preparation for semi-annual Agency all-staff meetings:
  • Prepares meeting materials and PowerPoint presentation
  • Organizes Employee Appreciation Awards process by accepting and compiling nominations, working with the Employee Recognition Committee, and preparing gifts and certificates
  • Completes other projects assigned by Executive Vice President, Human Resources

Workplace Relations

  • Provides advice and counsel to supervisors and employees on employee relations matters
  • Manages exit process


  • Assists with the development of HR policies and procedures
  • Assists with the coordination of NVFS employee events
  • Participates in regular supervision by providing regular updates and attending HR Team Meetings
  • Maintains working knowledge on NVFS programs and employment regulations
  • Maintains working knowledge of HR best practices and employment law

  • Bachelor’s degree (No equivalent experience allowed)
  • At least three years of related human resources generalist experience required
  • At least two years of related HRIS experience required
  • Experience with UltiPro preferred
  • At least two years of experience in data analytics required
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
