CITY CHARTER SCHOOLS seeks a dynamic and capable Business Operations Manager (BOM) to support operations at two progressive, high-achieving, project-based schools that serve a diverse student body reflective of the full range of socioeconomic, cultural, and racial diversity in Los Angeles. City Language Immersion Charter (CLIC) offers TK-5th grade students an innovative, dual language immersion program (Spanish/English) in the West Adams neighborhood of Los Angeles. The City School is one of the top performing middle schools in LA offering a student-centered, problem and project-based curriculum in a safe and supportive community. Both schools have become a national model for social-emotional learning and development (see our approach at www.selforteachers.org).

The BOM will work closely with stakeholders across the organization, fostering collaboration between the central office and schools. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker, an excellent people and project manager and have a successful track record of improving processes and systems. The Business Operations Manager reports directly to the VP of Operations.

The ideal candidates will have:

·      Bachelor’s degree

·      Passion for educational equity and enthusiasm for the schools values, mission and educational philosophy

·      At least 3 years of experience in an administrative role, ideally in a public school setting

·      Experience using student information system.

·      Proficiency with Microsoft (Word, Excell, PPT) and Google (docs, sheets, slides) productivity tools.

·      Experience with critical administrative functions, including accounts payable, human resources, scheduling, and general system implementation.

·      Ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously

·      Excellent organizational skills, including strong systems for time and task management

·      Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with students, families, and faculty)

·      Spanish fluency preferred, but not required

·      Highly reliable, a keen attention to detail, strong organizational systems and robust project management skills

·      Maturity, humility, strong work ethic, and a roll-up-my-sleeves attitude


Position Responsibilities:


·      Provide general administrative support, such as:

o  Data entry as needed into school and central office databases.

o  Filing and retrieving corporate records, documents, and reports.

o  Making travel arrangements for executives.

o  Managing accounts payable for central office expenses.

·      Researching and conducting data analysis to prepare documents for review and presentation, helping preparing for presentations, board meetings, and other convenings.

·      Manage human resource systems for CMO and schools and process payroll for central office employees.

·      Support the VP of Operations in functional areas of responsibility including food service, student health, student recruitment and enrollment, attendance and data reporting, risk management, safety and compliance, finance and purchasing, facilities, technology and human resources

·      Conduct operational internal school reviews of school-based systems and procedures to recognize areas of strength, identify areas for improvement and share best practices

·      Assist central office team in planning and coordination of events and initiatives
