Organization Summary: Since 1997, MESA has facilitated thousands of hands-on, agroecological and cultural exchanges between beginning farmers from 51 countries and U.S. mentor farms. MESA has also spearheaded popular certificate courses in agroecology, wildfire resilience, climate adaptation and organic seed production for over 1400 online learners. MESA’s current online agroecology classes are highly participatory and feature a growing roster of esteemed subject matter experts and instructors. The U.S. programs provide agroecology instruction, course certificates, farm apprenticeships and micro-business development support for aspiring beginning farmers and food producers from historically marginalized communities. MESA is also revitalizing our legacy global farmer-to-farmer exchange program with a dual aim to better prepare incoming global Stewards for U.S. training opportunities, and to build more resources for global alumni and partner affiliates.
