Stupid Cancer is the world leader in young adult cancer advocacy, research, support, and education. Founded in 2007 by Matthew Zachary, Stupid Cancer has spent more than a decade ending isolation, building community, providing education, redefining quality-of-life, and improving health outcomes for this community. Our mission is to empower those impacted by young adult cancer and improve health outcomes for the young adult cancer community.

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Program Manager position is based in Stupid Cancer's New York City headquarters.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Program Manager is principally responsible for leadership, strategy and execution of key programs, including, but not limited to, CancerCon, as well as Stupid Cancer's Summits, Meetups, Show and mobile LIVECHAT.


CANCERCON

  • Managing Program Supplies
  • Assist in the administrative duties for all programs
  • Venue Research and Selection
  • Liaison with Event Management Company- Direct contact with event management firm regarding all details regarding the conference 
  • Promotion - Work with Marketing staff to develop and manage advertisement and social media campaigns for awareness
  • Exhibitor Registration & Management
  • Coordination with Event Manager on System Requirements
  • Manage exhibitor recruitment
  • Oversee exhibitor management with event management company 
  • Assist the COO of programs with conference logistics and management 
  • Work with the COO on conference logistics. Management of venue logistics, audio visual and food & beverage.
  • Manage conference registration with assistance of Event Management Company
  • Work with COO and Executive Producer of CancerCon as the Assistant Producer overseeing general event execution
  • Program - work with program staff to manage the development of program/schedule structure and content
  • Call for Speaker Management
  • Coordination with Event Manager on System Requirements
  • Management Speaker Advisory Board
  • Manage speaker review and selection
  • Speakers - manager speaker identification, recruitment and management in coordination with event manager
  • Attendee Registration
  • Manage registration system creation & management
  • Attendee Advertisement and Communication
  • Work with Marketing staff to develop and oversee advertisement and social media campaigns for awareness
  • Work with marketing staff and steering committee to develop all attendee communications
  • Assist with conference vendor management (audio visual, decorator, Security, etc.)
  • Volunteer Management - Act as co-chair of the Steering Committee
  • Volunteer Management - Steering Committee -
  •  Management of sub-committees and assist in the facilitation of their projects/areas of focus
  • Volunteer Management - Steering Committee - Manage recruitment of new committee members
  • Conference Surveys - Development, review and analysis of post event surveys
  • Reporting - Create and manage status and post event reports
  • Budget - Assist in the development and management of conference budget 
  • Apply for funding through grant portals and foundations for support of:
  • National, regional and local programs 
  • Stupid Cancer Show 
  • Stupid Cancer App
  • General support 
  • Other programs and specific grants as needed 


MEETUPS

  • Oversee the management of Meetup programs
  • Manage Relationship with Splash
  • Create Meetup materials/Meetup leader tools (FAQ, guide, tips and other programatized materials) to
  • be included in Meetup kits
  • Oversee and facilitate new Meetup Leader Training


SUMMITS

  • Reporting - Create and manage status and post event reports
  • Sponsors - Manage sponsor benefit executables
  • Manage conference logistics and management with partners from Cancer Centers
  • Work with the Summit partners regarding all details the conferences - ongoing venue logistics including meeting space, AV, Food & Beverage
  • Program - Assist and work with program staff to determine program/schedule structure and content
  • Fundraising - apply for funding via grant portals 
  • Volunteer Management - Assist in the management of program volunteers 
  • Conference Surveys - Development, review and analysis of post event surveys
  • Promotion - Work with staff to develop advertisement and social media campaigns for awareness 


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Four-year college degree (or equivalent combination of education and experience 
  • A minimum five years of related professional experience in program development/management
  • Legally eligible to work in the United States; no sponsorship provided
  • Prior success working closely and building relationships with diverse groups of people
  • Effectiveness in working or volunteering in a non-profit organization that is focused on maintaining high quality work and low overhead


MUST HAVE SKILLS

  • Strong organizational skills with a keen eye for detail
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills (email, phone, and face-to-face)
  • Ability to juggle multiple priorities simultaneously and take initiative on new tasks
  • Computer experience with the ability to learn new applications and programs quickly
  • Experience using social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.)
  • Microsoft Office Programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)
