Cambridge Montessori School seeks a knowledgeable and passionate Communications Coordinator to support a variety of internal and external communications and marketing efforts. The Communications Coordinator will work alongside the Director of Development, report to the Head of School, and will serve on the school’s leadership team. Qualified candidates will have an undergraduate degree or higher, excellent writing and editing skills, strong technology skills (including Adobe, G-Suite, advanced understanding of social media platforms and analytics, and an understanding of online communications and design platforms), high attention to detail, and an enthusiasm for Montessori education. Ideal candidates will have experience working in an independent school community.   

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Communications: produce the school’s weekly newsletter in addition to other weekly and monthly communications; work with various programs, departments and faculty to create engaging, timely, informative content for our families and community
  • Digital and Print Marketing: oversee all aspect of digital and traditional marketing, including email newsletters, social media, flyers, advertisements, banners, invitations, and all other print, graphic and social media content
  • Social Media: create and implement the school’s social media strategy in order to provide a window into the school experience in order to engage current and future families
  • Family Engagement: Oversee and supervise parent led efforts and associations at the school
  • Events: Work with Development Office to manage and execute school events throughout the year
  • Work closely with the Development and Admissions to engage current and prospective families in meaningful ways which advance the mission and vision of the school
  • School Website: oversee all aspects of the CMS website, including updates, editing, and content
  • Photography and Videography: Work with parents and teachers to capture moments in students’ lives that can be showcased on social media. 
  • Collaboration: act as a key team player with colleagues to support communication efforts as part of their work


Qualification Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, journalism, communications, or marketing
  • 6+ years of experience in marketing and communications with independent schools or nonprofit organizations
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to write and edit quickly and under a deadline
  • Experience in graphic design and well-versed in Google products, iMovie or other video editing program and Adobe Creative Suite tools—including Illustrator, inDesign and Photoshop
  • Proven ability to effectively lead, manage, and inspire a collaborative team in a fast-paced environment with multiple creative projects
  • Creative and artistic vision and direction
  • Demonstrated experience with photography, videography, website content management and design, and social media marketing
  • Proven track record as an independent and goal-oriented manager with a dedication to meeting deadlines


We seek a flexible, driven, creative individual who can work both independently and effectively plan and problem solve with a team. Confidence, professional demeanor and a sense of humor are important characteristics. This position is for the 2021-2022 school year. This is a part-time position, requiring 25-30 hours per week. Salary is competitive, based on background and experience.
