Mission: Project Bread connects people and communities in Massachusetts to reliable sources of food while advocating for policies that make food more accessible—so that no one goes hungry. In collaboration with key partners, we deploy a two-pronged approach to achieve this goal by providing immediate relief to those who are hungry today and working to eradicate the systemic causes of hunger.

Project Bread is a vibrant organization with a deep commitment to driving lasting change. We work in a fast-paced environment that values learning and an entrepreneurial approach. Our team of dedicated staff are fundamentally people who apply a mission-focused approach to all tasks, celebrating victories big and small, and being flexible in navigating our organization’s rapid growth in response to the pandemic leaving more Massachusetts residents than ever before, unable to afford food.

The successful candidate will understand hunger is a systemic injustice long perpetuated by a culture of white supremacy, which is one of many reasons our approach promotes systems change to address hunger’s root causes. Achieving Project Bread’s mission therefore depends on every member of our team actively and consistently promoting equity in all that we do as employees, teammates, service providers, and thought leaders. The effective Development Coordinator will embrace diversity, equity, and inclusion as foundational to our work and actively contribute to continuously improving our culture, programs, and professional standards for enduring growth to reflect these values.

Role: The Development Coordinator is an integral part of the fundraising team, with a focus on support for Project Bread’s community of fundraising relationships and executing department projects. This position reports to the Director of Development, Individual Giving.

Primary Responsibilities:

·       Providing high quality, personalized frontline customer service and stewardship for Project Bread’s fundraising contacts (including donors, prospects, and peer to peer fundraisers). This includes:

o  Responsibility for inbound and outbound calls, emails, and web-based chats.

o  Making thank you calls to Project Bread donors weekly.

o  Supporting donor and fundraiser cultivation by learning Project Bread’s online fundraising tools and providing support and assistance throughout the year (and especially during the Walk for Hunger)

o  Create and maintain thorough and detailed Raiser’s Edge database records, accurately tracking interactions with donors and prospects, including researching and reporting donor and prospect backgrounds.

o  Partnering with Communications team to support timely, quality donor engagement and communications.

·       Manage the logistics for department fundraising projects, including:

o  External mailings and material request fulfillment, including those executed with third part partners and vendors.

o  Schedule and coordinate external presentations about food insecurity and the Walk for Hunger to interested groups.

o  Support and participate-in donor events (currently all being held virtually, but in the future will include in-person events when safety circumstances allow). This includes working during The Walk for Hunger, held the first Sunday in May each year, and assisting with event prep and wrap-up; on the Saturday before and Monday following the Walk for Hunger (this event is being held virtually this year, on Sunday, May 2, 2021).

Qualifications/Experience/Attributes:

There are innumerable ways to learn, grow, and excel professionally. We know people gain skills through a variety of professional, personal, educational, and volunteer experiences. We respect this when we review applications and take a broad look at the experience of each applicant. We want to get to know you and the unique strengths you will bring to the work. That said, we are most likely to be interested in your candidacy if you can demonstrate the majority of the qualifications and experiences listed below.
