Job Summary: HIV Testing Coordinator

The Mission of the Jacksonville Area Sexual Minority Youth Network (JASMYN) is to support and empower lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning (LGBTQ) youth by creating safe space, providing youth development services and bringing people and resources together to promote diversity and human rights. JASMYN is seeking to hire a HIV Testing Coordinator. We are seeking to hire a qualified professional that has experience working with LGBT youth and youth that have multiple issues, with a background in public health, mental health counseling or social work.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide HIV testing and counseling
  • Train and assist staff with implementation of CDC Evidenced Based HIV Prevention Interventions: PCC and Testing Together (couples testing)
  • Provide personalized cognitive counseling PCC services.
  • Provide Testing Together services
  • Coordinate and implement HIV testing events and outreach
  • Assist in internal HIV testing training process and procedures
  • Quality Assurance around HIV testing Data
  • Manage and maintain records of JASMYN certified tester
  • Support Outreach efforts at community information fairs & conferences around HIV testing Participate in VASA/CDC Project meetings monthly to plan activities of the project, review data collection and progress toward performance measures.
  • Support the work of the Community Advisory Board
  • Work with local organizations doing HIV testing to be informed of community testing sites and schedules
  • Update and manage JASMYN’s internal HIV testing resource list and keep a current list of community testing sites
  • Assist with JASMYN’s online outreach efforts around HIV prevention to YMSM
  • Serve as program contact for external agencies and groups regarding HIV programs; and disseminate information as appropriate
  • Assist with JASMYN’s social media outreach efforts  Recruit HIV tests at programming and special events
  • Conduct outreach and enroll membership into JASMYN programs and services
  • Support and assist with intra-agency referrals and linkage

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • 2 years’ experience working in Community Health, experience working with the youth population preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health or in human/social services field (social work, community health, psychology or biology) or related field
  • Familiarity and sensitivity in dealing with the unique needs of high school age youth and Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Questioning (LGBTQ) youth
  • Experience with HIV /STI prevention, testing and treatment; certification as HIV Test technician is highly preferred, but not required
  • Data management experience preferred, including familiarity with Excel or other data management software
  • Sensitivity to, interest in and competence in cultural differences, HIV/AIDS, minority health, sexual practices, and a demonstrated competence in working with persons of color and gay/lesbian/bisexual/transgender community
  • Understanding of how HIV is transmitted and prevented as well familiarity with Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP)
  • Experience with project management including, but not limited to: engaging community partners, creating work plans, providing communications to donors and stakeholders, overseeing volunteers, managing deadlines, and ensuring smooth program implementation
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with accountability; exercise sound judgment, discretion, and professionalism at all times
  • Demonstrated computer and keyboard proficiency using Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook) and working knowledge of the internet including social media platforms and applications Must pass criminal background checks
  • Current FL driver’s license and clean driving record


  • Cultural Competency – understand basic concepts around HIV and AIDS and knowledge around the challenges and barriers high risk LGBTQ youth face
