Description

Position Summary:

The Director of Development will play a critical role in advancing the mission of the SAVE Foundation by leading our fundraising and development efforts. This position is responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive development strategy to meet our annual and long-term fundraising goals. The Director of Development will work closely with the Executive Director and Board of Directors to cultivate and manage donor relationships, plan and implement fundraising events, and drive corporate and individual giving. Experience with the Miami-Dade and Broward area is a strong plus.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Development Strategy and Planning:
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director to create and implement a comprehensive fundraising development strategy.
  • Develop annual fund and action plans to meet organizational fundraising goals.
  • Set and achieve fundraising targets to support the organization’s $1.5 million budget, with a goal to double the budget in three years.
  1. Donor Cultivation and Management:
  • Manage a diverse pipeline and portfolio of major donors, ensuring regular and personalized engagement.
  • ​​Support the Executive Director in managing their donor portfolio.
  • Develop and implement donor cultivation and stewardship strategies.
  • Identify and cultivate new individual, corporate, and foundation donors.
  1. Corporate and Foundation Giving:
  • Develop and execute strategies for corporate sponsorships and partnerships.
  • Write grant proposals and manage relationships with foundation funders.
  1. Events and Campaigns:
  • Plan and execute fundraising events, including annual galas, donor appreciation events, and community outreach initiatives.
  • Develop and manage annual giving campaigns and donation drives.
  1. Planned Giving:
  • Create and implement a planned giving program to secure long-term financial support.
  1. Communications and Public Relations:
  • Work with the communications team to develop compelling fundraising materials and campaigns.
  • Ensure consistent messaging and branding across all fundraising efforts.
  1. Data Management and Reporting:
  • Utilize donor management software to track and analyze donor data.
  • Prepare regular reports on fundraising progress and projections for the Executive Director and Board of Directors.
  1. Leadership and Collaboration:
  • Serve as a member of the leadership team, contributing to overall strategic planning.
  • Collaborate with other departments to align fundraising efforts with programmatic goals.
  • Staff Liaison to the Fundraising Strategy Committee of the Board of Directors

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, business, marketing, or a related field, and/or equivalent work experience is required
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in nonprofit development, with a proven track record of successful fundraising.
  • Experience in managing donor portfolios and developing major gifts programs.
  • Strong understanding of corporate and foundation fundraising strategies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Proficiency in donor management software and fundraising platforms.
  • Commitment to the mission and values of the SAVE Foundation.
  • Experience in LGBTQ+ advocacy or related fields is a plus.
