DESCRIPTION


Disability Rights DC (DRDC) at University Legal Services, https://www.uls-dc.org/protection-and-advocacy-program/disability-rights-dc/, is the federally-mandated Protection and Advocacy Program

for people with disabilities in the District of Columbia. DRDC advocates for

the right of people with disabilities to be free from abuse, neglect and discrimination

and be fully integrated into their community.

DRDC is seeking to hire a 21-hour-a-week entry level advocate.  This advocate will represent children and adults with disabilities seeking quality community-based services and supports and prepare training materials and monitor and conduct trainings in institutions, schools and in the community to educate people with disabilities about their rights, the services available, and inclusion.  

Qualifications:

    

Required:  College graduate 

    

Required:  Strong oral and written communication skills

       

Required:  Demonstrated commitment to public interest work and/or disability rights

       

Preferred:  Experience working with people with disabilities


SALARY and BENEFITS
