For over 30 years, The Fishing School has provided research-based, out-of-school time programs for students in under-served communities in Washington, DC. The Tom Lewis Fellowship is a part-time position available to current college students, recent graduates and those not attending college who have an interest in or experience working with youth.

Qualifications

» current or former student at an accredited University or Community College

» those who didn’t attend college but have an interest and or experience with youth development

» experience working with youth in a non-traditional educational setting

» ability to collaborate and interface with schoolteachers and fellow instructors

Responsibilities

» implementing engaging lesson plans for STEAM and Life Skills activities

» developing and leading student-selected enrichment clubs

» providing homework help and implementing our blended-learning curriculum

» assisting students to develop positive character traits and life skills

» maintaining a daily schedule, classroom rules, the upkeep of equipment
