Position Summary

LINC’s mission is to engage families and community members to support pre- and young readers in high-need neighborhoods. A strong literacy foundation is crucial to success in school and beyond. LINC harnesses the power that exists in every community to make literacy a value and right of all children.

The Director of Strategic Initiatives develops, designs and directs new and ongoing strategic collaborative projects of the organization, ensuring high-quality, replicable projects that expand our reach and raise the profile of the organization. The role will be responsible for identifying and helping to secure funding for strategic partnerships that serve our mission.




Represent LINC as an expert in community-building partnerships:

  • Promote LINC and its mission
  • Work with senior management to develop new initiatives that deeply engage LINC’s communities and advance the mission
  • Be a source of expertise about collaborative practices and strategic alliances

Direct the development and implementation of LINC’s strategic projects:

  • Develop and grow connections for LINC across all channels
  • Serve as chief project manager for new and ongoing initiatives
  • Supervise project- specific teams towards achievement and continuous improvement
  • Manage program implementation across project, program and community teams:
  • Ensure deliverables are understood and on track
  • Assist in building key school, community and partner relationships
  • Facilitate select programs with schools, libraries and other community partners
  • Team with fellow directors to develop and achieve yearly program plan and strategic vision

Manage and analyze program evaluation and assessment data:

  • Ensure that assessment tools and outcomes management process are in place and effective
  • Analyze and report outcomes to key stakeholders
  • Implement partnership improvements based on evaluation, making tactical shift in long-range program planning

Cultivate strong, productive relationships across New York City:

  • Work with senior management in building and maintaining strong relationships with partners and supporters
  • Cultivate working relationships with Department of Education (city and state), elected officials, community-based organizations and national non-profits

Performs other related tasks as assigned.


5+ year’s program management and/or project management experience

Bachelor’s Degree required; Masters preferred

Experience teaching and working with NYC DOE, a plus

Excellent communicator with success working with diverse audiences

Computer literate

Ability to work independently and as a member of a diverse team

Level of Language Proficiency

Spanish language ability, a plus
