National Organizing Director

The Organization:

Poder Latinx (PL) is dedicated to expanding civic and voter participation so that Latinx leaders rise to be prominent decision makers in our democracy.

Our mission is to build a political wave where the Latinx community plays a key role in the transformation of our country, where immigrants, Latinx and other people of color are decision-makers of our political process.

The Position:

The National Organizing and Membership Director will be responsible for developing and shaping the scope of Poder Latinx organizing in accordance with organizational Theory of Change and Core Values. Will work with senior-level team members in structuring the present and future organizational strategic decision making within movement building organizing program development, curricula building, and political education. Director will develop and implement organizational membership models available for future members locally and nationally. Director will focus on organizing and membership building within our Latinx communities centering goals to achieve wins advancing social justice for Poder Latinx team members and members. 

Core Responsibilities

Building Organizing Infrastructure & Membership Base

• Building the organizing program nationally
• Supporting in design and strategy, local and statewide issue advocacy campaigns in stated Poder Latinx is present in.
• Create and manage community organizing programs that will include building Poder Latinx members as an organizing base. 
• Design and implement membership models infrastructure to grow Poder Latinx membership. 
• Working closely with Co-Executive Director to matrix manage team members that under organizing programs in order to oversee the development of organizers within Poder Latinx. 
• Design and implement cultural and political education programs needed to advance our shared theory of change with Poder Latinx core values rooted in our work. 
• Oversee and further develop programs consistent with organization core issues. 
• Utilize reporting documents to capture and measure our impact and narrative as pertaining to organizing and membership building. 
• Evaluates the effectiveness of Poder Latinx membership model specifically engagement and community leadership development. 
• Works closely and collaboratively with Co-Executive Directors and State Directors on strategic planning layering organizing into Poder Latinx efforts whenever possible. 
• Building advocacy programs and campaigns at local, state and national levels
• Implementation of training programs and facilitation locally & nationally

Preferred Qualifications

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in design and/or implementation in community organizing, preferably within a network setting. 
• Experience in facilitating and/or leading movement-building training, education, and/or workshop. 
• Experience supervising multiple team members both locally and nationally. 
• Proven record of success in setting and achieving goals as a collaborative leader who can manage multiple projects. The building, nurturing, and maintaining diverse and effective alliances and collaborations; proven ability to work collaboratively and foster collaboration, trust, and partnership in the high-pressure environment of campaign.
• Experience managing organizing/political campaigns, including field plan development, execution, evaluation and analysis
• Ability to effectively plan and implement work and manage time with minimal supervision
• Excellent organizational skills and communication (written and oral) skills in both English and Spanish, as well as cultural competence and the ability to communicate effectively with people representing diverse interests, styles, and backgrounds;
• Ability to be flexible and understanding with changes
• Reliable transportation and cell phone
