DESCRIPTION:

The Parkinson's Foundation (PF) makes life better for people with Parkinson’s disease by improving care and advancing research toward a cure. In everything we do, we build on the energy, experience and passion of our global Parkinson's community.

The Community Engagement department is charged with ensuring that the Foundation is continually identifying, listening and responding to the needs of the Parkinson’s community as collaborators and partners. The Manager, Community Engagement is responsible for building relationships, developing community collaborations, and implementing outreach and engagement programs in Spanish-speaking communities, with a focus on reaching new communities.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Build, develop, and maintain relationships among Parkinson’s constituency, including people living with Parkinson’s disease, health care professionals and other stakeholder groups to advance community engagement goals within Spanish-speaking communities.
  • Implement strategies to gather feedback from the community both to ensure programs are valuable and to increase community engagement.
  • Facilitate the creation and dissemination of culturally appropriate continuing and professional education training programs for community health workers (promotores).
  • Develop a tracking and reporting process for community health workers (promotores) outreach activities, maintain records and prepare reports for project partners and stakeholder groups to show progress toward goals.
  •  Identify, build, and manage ongoing networking and information sharing opportunities for community health workers (promotores) that have attended Parkinson’s Foundation trainings.
  • Work with Chapter program staff to plan and implement Chapter programs in Spanish, including support for outreach and promotion activities, helping to ensure programs are culturally appropriate and impactful, and when necessary, serve as program moderator.
  • Plan and implement all monthly Spanish language PD Health @ Home webinars and events.
  •  Work with patient engagement team to plan and implement patient ad boards in Spanish, helping to ensure ad boards are culturally appropriate and impactful, and when necessary, serve as facilitator.
  •  Serve as a liaison to relevant internal or external committees to ensure the goals of Community Engagement and the Foundation are represented.
  • Represent the Parkinson’s Foundation at conferences and community events.
  • Perform related work as required.

EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred with an emphasis in health education, public health, or health promotion preferred.
  • Bi-lingual Spanish required (speak, read, and write Spanish)
  • Minimum of 4-6 years healthcare experience. Non-profit experience a plus.
  • Proven track-record of effective collaboration and partnership building.
  • Demonstrated ability for working with individuals from diverse ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds. A familiarity and commitment to Spanish-speaking communities a plus.
  •  Strong ability to develop and execute work plans, manage multiple projects, and prioritize tasks. 
  • Ability to plan, implement and evaluate health education programs.
  • Highly collaborative; ability to work independently and as part of a larger geographically dispersed team.
  • Excellent presentation and written communication skills (in both English & Spanish).

COMPENSATION:

Salary for this position is competitive and depends on prior experience. In addition, a comprehensive benefits package is included.
