ABOUT MENTOR COLORADO

MENTOR Colorado was founded in April 2014 by the passion and vision of a number of grassroots organizations implementing formalized mentoring programs. These organizations established the partnership to improve their ability to strengthen communities through mentoring. To amplify the impact of mentoring, MENTOR Colorado supports the growth and development of over 65 organizations throughout the state, resulting in greater collaboration, more high-quality mentoring programs, better use of resources, and most importantly, more young people matched in quality mentoring relationships.

MENTOR Colorado has served the mentoring field in Colorado by providing a public voice; developing and delivering resources to mentoring programs; and promoting quality for mentoring through evidence-based standards, innovative research and essential tools. Together with its 65 affiliates, MENTOR Colorado engages with the private, public and nonprofit sectors to ensure that all youth have the support they need through mentoring relationships, to succeed at home, school and, ultimately, work.

Findings confirm that mentoring helps youth academically and socially, builds leadership skills, and prepares them for healthy transitions into adulthood. In addition, adult mentors report a strong feeling of not only benefitting the individual they are mentoring, but also about building a better and stronger society. If you are called to “make a difference” in the lives of young people, and in our society overall, this may be the opportunity for you.
