Position Summary: The ideal candidate will be mission-driven with a desire to make a difference for people and communities served by LCS Northwest.  We are looking for someone who under the supervision of the Program Director will be able to complete intake assessments on new enrollees in the WISe Program. This person will act as a member of the referral and assessment team who is able to work flexible hours when required. The ideal candidate will be sensitive and respectful of all people.

 

  1. Responsibilities:  The primary duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
  2. Meet with youth and families to provide education about Lutheran’s programs, complete the intake assessment, and complete necessary documentation to enroll families into the program, including the initial support plan.
  3. Flexibly schedule appointments with the child/youth and family to meet their needs for both date/time and location of appointments (work schedules will be accommodated to account for days that require working before or after normal working hours).
  4. Assist in the enrollment and referral process and ensure that all enrollment forms are signed and submitted within the designated time frames.
  5. Maintain primary contact with newly enrolled youth until a care coordinator is assigned.
  6. Participate in the assignment process.
  7. Support staff and attend client and family meetings, as requested, with system partners and/or care providers, including families to problem solve challenging issues regarding enrollment and clinical assessment.
  8. Adhere to the Children’s Behavioral Health Principles as described in the most recent version of the WISe Manual.
  9. Provide CANS screens and assessments as requested and required for WISe program and ensure the integrity of those screens and assessments for care planning using the data gathered by the CANS, including participation in processes related to enrollments requiring clinical discretion.
  10. Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of all other required forms requiring a supervisor’s signature (timesheets, vacation and sick time requests, expense reports, supervision logs, etc.).
  11. Participate in mandatory trainings and offered in-services
  12. In consultation of the Program Director, participate in training seminars and other educational opportunities to insure continued competence in skill areas related to essential job functions.
  13. Recognize the value and strengths of all cultures and maintain a mature problem-solving attitude while providing client services and dealing with cross-cultural challenges.
  14. Adhere to the ethical standards of a professional association appropriate to education and licensure.
  15. Function in accordance with the LCSNW personnel, clinical, and administrative policies and procedures. 
  16. Model and encourage direct, professional communication among staff members and facilitate development of a positive staff support network.
  17. Travel up to 30% of scheduled work hours
  18. Other duties as assigned by the Program Manager and/or Program Supervisor.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and write/type. The employee is normally engaged in low-activity tasks such as sitting, standing, and walking. The work environment is typical of a professional offices; the noise level is usually moderate. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

Coordination tasks are generally performed in a normal office environment and in community-based sites, including churches. Travel to and from determined locations will be required.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Knowledge of human behavior and performance: individual differences in ability, personality and interest.
  2. Knowledge of principles, methods and procedures for diagnosis, and treatment.
  3. Dependable, flexible, punctual, strong work ethic and service oriented.
  4. Be able to respect and work cooperatively with a variety of persons, including coworkers, community partners (social service agencies), the public, volunteers and parents of the children.
  5. Have the ability to stay calm in tense situations.
  6. Support and uphold the mission, beliefs and values of Lutheran Community Services.
  7. Clearance through the Washington State Patrol (background check) and verification of ability to work around vulnerable populations is necessary.
  8. Must also have transportation.
  9. Clearance of Motor Vehicle Report to meet LCSNW insurance requirements.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:  

  • Master’s degree in social work, psychology or other master’s level health care profession
  • 2 years’ experience in a related field/program

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:  

  • MHP-Mental Health Professional credential required
  • Obtain Washington State Agency Affiliated Counselor Registration  (Within 90 Days)
  • CPR/First Aid (Within 90 Days)
  • YMHFA-Youth Mental Health First Aid (90 Days)
  • Washington State CANS certification. (Within 90 Days)
