 POSITION DESCRIPTION TITLE: Executive Director

CLASSIFICATION: Full-Time, Exempt

SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director has overall strategic and operational responsibility for staff, fundraising and community engagement, programs, goal setting and execution of the mission. 


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensures the delivery of high quality mental health services while managing for current and future growth.
  • Provides overall administration of the day to day internal operations.
  • Communicates with board and senior staff regularly about organizational development, operations, programs, financial opportunities and challenges.
  • Promotes a positive, multicultural work environment throughout the organization to attract and retain a diverse, best-in-class staff.
  • Facilitates the adequate availability and development of personnel; supports and motivates staff and partners.
  • In partnership with the Board, defines strategic direction, goals and priorities.
  • Develops and oversees annual budgets, goal setting and tracks progress toward objectives.
  • Cultivates an environment and reputation that supports discovery that energizes volunteers, board members, event committees, alumni, community partner organizations and funders.
  • Ensures that the short and long term working capital and financial management needs of the organization are adequately addressed and regularly reported to the board.
  • Assures SCCC’s mission and services are consistently presented with strong, positive messages to relevant external stakeholders including funders, and media.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s Degree in Nonprofit Management, Business Administration or comparable experience. At least five years in a senior nonprofit leadership role, experience with clinical services a plus.                         
  • Commitment to community mental health and the clinical work that is core to SCCC’s mission.
  • Experience in leading collaboratively across differences including race, class, culture, gender and sexual orientation, high degree of ethics and integrity.
  • Strong financial skills including the ability to develop business plans, manage change, develop successful fundraising strategies, regularly track budget progress against goals, identify opportunities for growth. 
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills, articulate and able to relate to people at all levels of the organization and across diverse communities.
