 Associate Director, Operations & Special Projects, SEO College Scholars



SEO Scholars is seeking an Associate Director, Operations & Special Projects to join our College Scholars team. Our College Scholars team currently supports over 825 students attending more than 175 colleges across 25 States, with a 90% college graduation rate. We achieve this by providing boot-camp style workshops before students begin college, one-on-one support and academic advising throughout the year, as well as ongoing career exploration and networking events.


  • Strategy & Team Management
  • Serve as one of senior leaders in the department to identify strategic direction for initiatives and present a thorough implementation process.
  • Successfully manage a team of four-to-seven full and part-time staff.
  • Relationship Management:
  • Liaison between SEO and corporate partners, critically identifying deliverables and effectively communicating to both internal and external parties.
  • Work with other departments within SEO (ex. communications, development, etc.) to provide data and support as needed.
  • Student Data and Database Management: 
  • Supervise staff to ensure student data is collected, entered, and maintained in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Summarize, analyze, and report key data points as needed.
  • Event and Operations Management:
  • Oversee event planning (securing space, vendors, set up) and execution (all elements of preparation in advance and execution).
  • Design and oversee implementation of systems internally to increase accuracy, efficiency and effectiveness of program implementation to meet department goals.
  • Plan and schedule project timelines for key program initiatives (conferences, workshops, trainings, funder and internal reports).
  • Career Development:
  • Oversee strategy, design and implementation of projects and activities ensuring that summer placement goals are met, including resume preparation, cover letter reviews and mock interviews.
  • Supervise the development and strengthening of partnerships with organizations that hire SEO Scholars.
  • Special Projects:
  • Oversee the successful implementation of the Summer STEM initiative.
  • Identify, propose and execute other projects that advance and support SEO Scholars’ strategic and operating objectives.
  • Additional responsibilities and tasks as needed.
  • Work will typically be done in the office, during regular business hours.
  • Occasional evening and weekend work is required, dependent on program needs.


  • Required: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline.
  • Master’s degree in Higher Education Administration, Business or other related fields preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of work experience, part of which should ideally be in a non-profit setting.
  • At least 2 years of experience in managing a team.


  • Highly resourceful with a solution-focused style of work presenting clear and strategic ideas for program improvement.
  • Comfortable working independently and as a member of a collaborative team.
  • Ability to manage numerous large and small-scale projects that have multiple steps and varying deadlines, working with fervor to meet all deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, strong work ethic, and high level of professionalism.
  • Ability to balance external partner demands with internal organizational demands.
  • Must be highly proficient with Microsoft Office, especially Outlook, Excel and Publisher; Must be familiar with Google Drive.
