Senior Program Director- Youth & Community

Program Overview: The Senior Program Director is responsible for oversight of the Settlement’s Brooklyn-based elementary and middle school afterschool programs, and Community School program. This position will ensure quality performance and outcomes, provide motivational management and direction, serve as a dynamic representative for the organization, and fully embody the Agency’s mission. This position reports to the Associate Executive Director,

Responsibilities: 

• Provide senior-level leadership, support, and supervision to Youth Programs in a variety of settings; including but not limited to afterschool and camp programs and community schools.
• Oversee the delivery of high-quality services across a network by creating program/policy changes and directing program improvements in response to trends as appropriate. 
• Supervise, mentor, and develop a team of management level programmatic staff, including elementary and middle school afterschool program directors and community school director, as well as Program Assistants that support admin work.
• Collaborate with Mental Health Team at University Settlement to provide support for families and our school communities.
• Ensure that programs maintain an emotionally and physically safe environment for youth and community members, meeting all compliance and safety requirements set forth by the organization, government agencies, and funders.
• Work collaboratively with Youth Division Senior Program Directors and Director of Curriculum and Instruction and Data to develop and follow through division wide strategies for implementing program objectives.
• Collaborate with the Development Office by serving as a trusted programmatic voice for fundraising, grant writing, as well as ensuring timely and accurate submission of all relevant reports. 
• In collaboration with the Fiscal Department and program leadership, oversee the budget making process to maintain program’s fiscal viability. 
• Identify opportunities for new initiatives or program expansion, with particular attention to partnerships that enhance existing programs or that relate to the Settlement’s strategic growth plans. 
• Develop and nurture collaborations and linkages to other Settlement programs, as well as community service partners, elected officials, community leaders, professional groups, coalitions, and local businesses. 
• Active leadership and participation in Settlement-wide activities, advocacy events and policy initiatives as member of the Senior Program leadership team. 

Qualifications: 

• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s Degree is preferred, background in non-profit administration or human services is required. Youth Development is preferred
• 5 +years of progressive leadership experience in program design, implementation, and evaluation in a community-based direct service setting, preferably in a youth development organization 
• Minimum of 5 years of staff management experience and the ability to effectively lead direct reports to deliver high-quality services to community members 
• Prior success in providing effective training and onboarding as well as ongoing support and mentoring to retain talented team members 
• Strong organizational and project management skills, with the capacity to adapt and adjust based on the needs of programs and the organization
• Demonstrated success managing reporting and compliance requirements for state, federal, and city funded programs alongside a firm understanding of budgeting processes to articulate the fiscal needs of a program 
• Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills; adept at working with and relating to diverse constituents in a fast-paced environment 
• Ability to foster a supportive environment for both program participants and staff
