The Workforce Coordinator is responsible for developing strong job leads and providing high quality career counseling, training, and job placement assistance to designated job seekers within La Colaborativa community membership. The Workforce Coordinator/Career Coach initiates and sustains collaborative working relationships with a variety of businesses in the greater-Boston area. This individual must have a strong knowledge about issues related to communities with significant socio-economic barriers to employment as well as experience working with people from diverse backgrounds. 

Engagement and Placement:    

  • Enroll new participants via targeted outreach initiatives 
  • Begin and/or maintain communication with referral agencies and community employment partners  
  • Assist participants with goal setting, career planning, and training 
  • Following with job placement, skills enhancements and career advancement  
  • Assist program participants individually and as groups in job search-related activities
  • Coordinate relevant certification tests, technical courses, and education resources
  • Mentor participants with job interviews and facilitate interview and hiring process
  • Provide follow-up services with job-seeker and employer to ensure economic stability and mobility
  • Plan, coordinate, and conduct educational and training activities

Coordination:   

  • Support and promote the mission and philosophy of JVS both internally and outside the agency  
  • Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders (participants, employers, partner organizations, funders, etc.)  
  • Work as part of a team, sharing job leads and collaborating on workshops, classes, group interviews and any other tasks as needed  
  • Attend and actively participate in staff meetings and team- based projects  
  • Provide assistance to fellow team members when needed     

Administration:   

  • Organize and maintain relevant files, records, reports, and databases  
  • Monitor and update engagement, placement, and retention metrics
  • Perform other duties as assigned or requested   
  • Advocate for and expand upon continuous quality improvement processes in service delivery by acting as a consultant to develop community partnerships
  • Work with local groups on aligned goals

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:   

· 1-3 years of experience in workforce development or related fields (public health, psychology, social work) required

· Experience in marketing and outreach desired

· Established network of Boston-area employers preferred

· Proficiency/Fluent in Spanish

· Familiarity with career ladders and professional advancement preferred

· Familiarity with career training and educational resources preferred.  

· Knowledge of community resources and web-based resources. 

· Strong Microsoft Office Suite skills required.   

EDUCATION REQUIRED: Associate Degree in Human Services, Business Administration, Public Health, Education, or related field.
