Development Coordinator

The Development Coordinator position provides the opportunity to join a dynamic development team charged with private sector fundraising for a national education nonprofit. Our ideal candidate is creative, detail oriented, and a team player. This position will offer you an introduction into the world of fundraising, donor stewardship and cultivation, and civic engagement - all set against the educational landscape in Detroit.

The position is an ideal opportunity for an individual interested in a career in nonprofit management or fundraising and will provide valuable hands-on experience in several aspects of fund development.

• Provide champions, donors, and prospects with an exceptional experience of City Year
• Visitor Program
• Set up and arrange logistics of prospect/donor visits to schools
• Work with school-based teams to ensure corps and staff are prepared for visitors and that visitors are minimally disruptive to service and impact
• Prepare and distribute visit briefings
• Publish & promote on social platforms, schedule posts, and assist with design elements and content
• Manage City Year Detroit’s website content
• Collaborate with Development Manager in creating and distributing a monthly e-newsletter to City Year Detroit’s Board and champions
• Invoice donors, acknowledge gifts, and work collaboratively with Gift Processing to enhance donor experience (including all thank you notes and cards)
• Lead on ensuring donor database is accurate and up to date
• Ensure important donor relationship information is captured and reflected correctly in donor database
• Produce useful and accurate donor reports
• Request prospect research from Headquarters Development team
• Manage site-level reporting for annual report and other stewardship reporting
• Provide support for fundraising events (RSVPs, event registration, donor recognition, gift processing, etc.)
• Function as site point for HQ Development initiatives (operations, Power Pipeline, MarComm, etc.)
• Special projects as assigned (e.g. working closely with the Impact team on school makeover projects)
• Creates presentations and print material folders for donor meetings
• Performs administrative duties and schedule coordination as needed

Required Qualifications

• Ability to work under pressure, multi-task, and respond to short deadlines
• Strong attention to detail and proven organizational, project management, and data management skills
• Intermediate skill using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point
• 1-2 years’ experience in fundraising and/or communications; experience with AmeriCorps, City Year, or related service experience
