Jeremiah Program is expanding throughout the country to meet the growing demand for its model. The organization has campuses in Minneapolis and St. Paul, MN, Austin,       TX, and Fargo, ND and our national office is in Minneapolis. Construction has begun on a campus in Rochester-SE, MN, set to open summer 2020. The Director of Individual Giving is a new position and will report to our National Director of Development Strategy & Operations and manage two Individual Giving Managers working in support and in collaboration with JP campuses around our national giving strategy.


POSITION DESCRIPTION

Director of Individual Giving (DIG) is a new and critical position created to help manage the individual program within the national development team in support and in collaboration with our JP campuses. The DIG is as an essential member of the national development team responsible for stewarding relationships with major donors and overseeing all aspects of the national individual giving program. Reporting to the NDDSO, the DIG will assist with be charged with managing a 100-150 portfolio of donors and prospects who have the capacity to contribute at the $2,500 figure level and higher. In addition to a focus on securing gifts, the DIG will manage a team of two Individual Giving Managers for an Individual Giving Team fundraising goal of $1M for 2020.


A competitive applicant will possess a deep commitment to and understanding of current housing, education, early childhood and all social justice issues intersecting with poverty. Applicants should have prior experience working within a structured and effective development department and bring an entrepreneurial approach both to their career path and development work.


 


CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

Donor Relations:

·           Design, implement and manage a comprehensive, proactive development plan for individual giving, with a focus on expanding and enhancing individual giving within the organization and specifically on each campus.

·           Intimately manage their portfolio, and ensures all national individual donors receive curated face-to-face engagement as well as email, calls and personalized postal correspondence.

·           In conjunction with the NDDSO, the DIG serves as an ambassador of JP mission in conjunction and in support of JP campuses.



Management and Partnership:

·           Assist the NDDSO in ensuring systems and processes regarding event logistics, prospect research, prospect qualification, and donor stewardship are highly effective and scalable for each of our campuses.

·           Collaborate and problem solve with IGM’s increasing recruitment, retention and renewal of key donors within their portfolios and across JP’s campuses.

·           Guide and lead IGM’s in identifying, cultivating, soliciting and managing stewardship of individual donors and donor prospects within their portfolios and across JP’s campuses.

·           In partnership the marketing team, the DIG will develop engagement structures connecting JP’s efforts with Individual Donors and grass-top influencers for national donors and across JP’s campuses.

·           In partnership with the NDDSO, develop event budgets and oversee financial reporting/ reconciliation.



Planning and Reporting:

·           Meet annual individual giving fundraising goal of $1M (in 2020) with annual renewal percentages; and pipeline development goals set by the NDDSO at the end of Q1 each year.

·           Partner with NDDSO to:

1.     Reconcile contributions from individual donors and update projections

2.     Develop  budgets  and  monitor  expenses  related  to  the  individual  giving program



In collaboration with the National Development Team:

·           Lead system upgrades to drive our prospect research and donor cultivation and stewardship efforts

·           Perform comprehensive ongoing data analysis and evaluation related to all aspects of your individual giving portfolio

·           Ensure individual giving fundraising activity and interactions are accurately and regularly stored in donor databases and information systems and acknowledgement letters are generated within 72-hours

·           Lead special org-wide development projects as needed.

You can manage across multiple work streams and functions, keeping deadlines and managing complexity by simplifying solutions, systems and processes with clarity and attention to detail. You have an ability to efficiently initiate and complete multiple tasks on time.

·           Adaptable and Flexible. You can handle any curveball, and in fact, you expect them. You can meet deadlines and manage competing priorities. Additionally, you are strategic and have the ability to pivot quickly as priorities shift and the team continues to take shape. You can and are willing to travel if needed.


What You Will Need:

·           Professional Experience: You have (10) ten years of professional experience, with at least (6) six being in development related activities and (3) three years of direct management experience. You have a proven track record initiating, stewarding and moving $2,500 individual gifts and higher to greater levels of support. You have experience successfully converting 10-15% of lapsed donors annually.

·           The Ability to Execute on Fundraising Plans and Strategies That Generate Significant Results. You regularly use data to drive decision-making and reflect on your rigorous and donor centered plans for sustaining and growing your donor base and revenue. You have strong prospect research skills and a solid understanding of moves management.

·           Mission Alignment: You have enthusiasm, familiarity and demonstrated alignment with JP’s mission and campaigns and also a commitment to building/ deepening your commitment to racial justice. You are steadfast in your support of JP’s long- term sustainability and are committed to a career with impact.

·           Willingness to travel: You are open to traveling up to twice a month or twelve to twenty trips a year.
