POSITION SUMMARY

The Recruiter is a member of the Talent + Community team, which is responsible for all organizational talent acquisition and serves as a conduit for growing and advising our extended network through our recruitment process, and creating ongoing opportunities to engage with and deepen their relationship with Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB).   This role sits as part of our People Team is part of the collective hub that services the employee experience.

Democracy Fund is seeking an entrepreneurial self-starter with fluency in cloud-based systems to support the growth and success of Democracy Fund and its extended network. The Recruiter provides seamless recruitment support to the Senior Advisor, Talent Acquisition, and works with every part of our community to grow and strengthen the capacity of our teams. We are looking for someone with demonstrated experience recruiting in collaborative, experimental, creative environments. You will be responsible for designing and managing internal team processes that not only ensure efficient, smooth-running recruiting systems but also focus on improving the overall employee and candidate experiences.

The position focuses on tracking and managing the recruitment process, including oversight of an administrative support staff member to ensure candidates move quickly and efficiently through our holistic interview process. The Recruiter will interview and screen candidates as well as initiate preboarding steps, such as offer letters and background checks, that lead to the onboarding handoff, which is led by the People Team Coordinator.

This role serves as a thought partner with the Senior Advisor, Talent Acquisition; staffs Employee Engagement Committee meetings; and supports the biennial rollout of the Great Place to Work Survey. The successful candidate will collaborate to create, deliver, and center dynamic DEIB experiences that span our internal and external communities.

You are a resourceful, highly collaborative team player who possesses strong written and verbal communication, planning, and organizational skills; excels at managing multiple priorities; and are able to work independently on projects from conception to completion.

The Recruiter reports to the Senior Advisor, Talent Acquisition, and collaborates closely with the People Team Coordinator.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

RECRUITMENT MANAGEMENT & TRACKING

  • Co-lead weekly recruitment check-in meetings in partnership with Senior Advisor, Talent Acquisition, and managers hiring for new and vacant Democracy Fund positions.
  • Own an elevated candidate experience through high-touch communication by call, email, or other means to set expectations and build meaningful relationships toward a successful placement.
  • Edit, refine, and track position descriptions in partnership with the Senior Advisor, Talent Acquisition, and hiring managers.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Digital Communications Associate to post job announcements on the Democracy Fund website.
  • Partner with the People Team Coordinator and People Team Support Temp to advertise Democracy Fund openings.
  • Research and train staff on interview best practices, with a special focus on DEIB.
  • Interview and screen candidates for cloud-based fluency and comfort working with ambiguity.
  • Serve as liaison to candidates and recruiting firms, ensuring all candidates are moving efficiently through the recruitment process.

PEOPLE OPERATIONS & PROCESSES

  • Maintain accurate and well-ordered documentation on all candidates, searches, and other recruiting activities.
  • Create and administer Democracy Fund offer letters in DocuSign and initiate the candidate background check process in SterlingONE.
  • Support People Team budgeting processes, including developing annual budgets, tracking spending, and reforecasting on a regular basis.
  • Manage and organize People Team data, including contacts, expenses, and other files. Use discretion and good judgment when managing documents with confidential information.
  • In partnership with the People Team Support Temp, ensure all recruitment meetings are scheduled.

COMMUNITY & CULTURE

  • Collaborate with the Senior Advisor, Talent Acquisition, to determine strategy and priorities for the Employee Engagement Committee and prepare agendas and take notes at monthly meetings.
  • Support the launch and implementation of the Great Place to Work Survey, which Democracy Fund participates in biennially.
  • Collaborate on the creation, delivery, and centering of DEIB events across Democracy Fund’s extended network.
  • Plan and coordinate virtual, new-hire events in partnership with the People Team Coordinator, members of the Engagement Committee, or organization at large.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS

  • A passion for strengthening American democracy.
  • A high level of integrity that embodies and reflects Democracy Fund values.
  • Five to seven years of related work or equivalent experience, preferably in operations or recruiting.
  • Deep commitment to racial equity and justice and creating a strong organizational culture that emphasizes DEIB.
  • Highly organized with demonstrated expertise in event planning, time management, and scheduling.
  • Meticulous attention to detail. Ensuring accuracy, specifically as it relates to human resources documents, such as offer letters and background checks, as well as department contracts.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and excellent judgment, with a proven ability to prioritize and make solid decisions in support of the organization.
  • Ability to learn a range of people-specific software, including JazzHR, SterlingONE, Calendly, Donut/Slack onboarding integration, Performance Culture, JustWorks (previously TriNet), Replicon, DocuSign, and HelloSign.
  • Experience in cloud-based systems, such as Okta, Slack, Zoom, Fluxx, Adaptive, Bill.com, Expensify, and Salesforce, which are used by Democracy Fund.
  • Strong people skills including the ability to establish collegial relationships with staff across the organization regardless of title or level.
  • Knowledge of website management systems and/or project management strategies and tools a plus.
  • Ability to adapt quickly, work calmly, and maintain good judgment in a fast-paced environment.

SALARY

Salary range begins at $101,740.50 per year.
