The Senior Program Director for Life is Precious™ reporting to Senior Assistant Vice President (SAVP), assist in the operations and growth of the Life is Precious™ program, which includes planning, developing, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating program activities and outcomes, and overseeing expansion. The Senior Program Director nurtures and grows community connections and facilitates workshops and training to local schools, parents and community organizations. The Senior Program Director collaborates with the researchers to ensure that the data and consent are properly completed in adherence to the research criteria. LIP operates in the Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens and Manhattan (Washington Heights) with the possibility of additional growth.

  • Assist with the ongoing development and growth of the Life Is Precious™ (LIP) program
  • In collaboration with SAVP and Development department, participate in development and promotion of marketable program elements
  • Supervise program activities across multiple locations and provide program coverage as needed 
  • Supervise program staff
  • Assist and support Parent Engagement and Support Groups; be able to facilitate and engage groups in Spanish
  • Act as an internal and external champion of the LIP Programs, serving as a liaison to community, government, funding sources, and other stakeholders, when needed
  • Act as an LIP champion to school and community clinic partners, and provide suicide prevention workshops to students and parents
  • Contribute towards the development of strategies, tools, and tactics to improve the quality and offering of services while building the reach and reputation of the program
  • In collaboration with SAVP, ensure documentation and Incident Reports are promptly and accurately reported in AWARDS, our data collection tool
  • Maintain policies, principles, and procedures that comply with internal as well as funder (such as DOHMH and DYCD) regulatory requirements, guidelines, and directives
  • Assist SAVP in ensuring that all outsourcing services are offered according to the contracts, i.e. number of hours, instructors are on time and substitutes are available
  • Performs other duties as assigned



  • Operates in a professional office environment with frequent travel to local offices, community partners and events.
  • Routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, Zoom, Google, phones, copiers, filing cabinets and fax machines
  • Business hours are within Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 pm and some Saturdays; subject to modification based on the needs of the program. Emergency response to clients in crisis outside of work hours may be required

  • Education and Experience Requirement(s):
  • Master’s Degree in social work; LMSW/LCSW required
  • Five to seven years of experience in behavioral health, suicide prevention and/or youth social services fields
  • Strong skills in developing and managing people, and programs and in facilitating workshops
  • Bilingual skills in Spanish required
  • Experience working with adolescents and families
  •  SIFI certification, a plus
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with MS Office and Google product suites
  • Demonstrated skills to work within a team model and provide team leadership in team meetings
  • Ability to speak persuasively to groups of all sizes and to facilitate workshops and trainings
  • Ability to successfully promote the LIP programs with stakeholders, partners and community members
  • Demonstrated management skills
  • Experience in supervision of staff
  • Evidence of cultural competency in working with Hispanic adolescents and their immigrant families
  • Demonstrates effectiveness in executing complex initiatives
  • Understanding of and commitment to organization’s mission, vision, and values
  • Ability to handle complex challenges and balance multiple demands on time and attention
  • Ability to work with families and caregivers with an understanding of intergenerational trauma 
  • Community minded, patient, creative, flexible, and compassionate
