Temporary Position: December 2020 – April 2021


The Tax Help program at Foundation Communities is hiring a team of enthusiastic, motivated individuals who can help us provide high-quality tax return preparation for the 2021 tax filing season. Tax team members make a tremendous impact in the Austin community while gaining meaningful non-profit experience working for a well-respected organization.


If you are hesitant to apply due to a lack of tax preparation experience, know that many candidates we speak with feel similarly. We are here to give you all of the tools you need to excel, including paid training. Find a summary of the roles we are still interviewing for and their job descriptions below.


We are still seeking candidates for the following positions & schedules:

·      Intake Leads

·      Virtual: Monday - Thursday 4:30-8:00PM, Friday - Saturday 9:00AM-5:00PM

·      Hiring Multiple In-Person Staff at Prosper Center North: Office Hours are Monday – Thursday 9:00AM-8:00PM and Friday – Saturday 9:00AM-5:00PM

·      In-Person at Prosper Center South: Monday - Thursday 4:30-8:00PM & Saturday 9:00AM-5:00PM

·      Bilingual Tax Specialist: Virtual: Monday - Thursday ~3:00-8:00PM & Saturday 9:00AM-5:00PM; The 3PM start time is flexible so if you are a good fit but can’t start at 3PM, please still apply.

·      Tax Lead: Virtual: Monday – Thursday 8:30AM-4:30PM & Saturday 8:30AM-5:30PM

Intake Leads (In-Person & Remote)

Under the direction of the Tax Program Manager, Intake Leads oversee operations, provide support and guidance to Intake Specialists and volunteer Client Liaisons, and ensure efficient operations. This position pays $16 per hour and is available in the following schedules:

·      Virtual: Monday - Thursday 4:30-8:00PM, Friday - Saturday 9:00AM-5:00PM

·      In-Person at Prosper Center North: Monday – Thursday 9:00AM-8:00PM and Friday – Saturday 9:00AM-5:00PM

·      In-Person at Prosper Center South: Monday - Thursday 4:30-8:00PM & Saturday 9:00AM-5:00PM


Job Responsibilities

●     Ensure intake operations run smoothly by managing opening and closing procedures, troubleshooting common issues, and resolving client and volunteer conflicts.

●     Provide support, guidance, and ongoing training to Intake Specialists and volunteer Client Liaisons.

●     Manage client satisfaction by tracking and managing client tickets.

●     Conduct intake interviews with clients, which include validating clients’ identities, screening for eligibility, reviewing client documents, and ensuring clients are ready to proceed in the tax preparation process.

●     Protect client confidentiality.

●     Complete all specified paid training.

●     Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

●     Bilingual in English and Spanish strongly preferred

●     Experience working in a fast-paced environment

●     Professional demeanor with excellent communication and customer service

●     Comfortable with technology and ease in learning new software/programs such as Slack, Outlook, G-Suite products and web conferencing

●     Experience with customer service software is a plus (e.g. Zendesk, HubSpot, Freshdesk)

Bilingual Tax Specialist (Remote)

Under the direction of the Tax Leads, the Bilingual Tax Specialist will conduct a secondary review of tax returns, deliver results to clients via phone, help clients electronically sign their tax return, and assist with other administrative tasks. Monday - Thursday ~3:00-8:00PM & Saturday 9:00AM-5:00PM schedule is available. The 3PM start time is flexible, so if you are a good fit but can’t start at 3PM, please still apply. This position pays $16 per hour.


Job Responsibilities

●     Prepare and review tax returns.

●     Contact clients to remedy missing or incorrect information, respond to client messages, and provide tax return updates.

●     Serve as a resource for clients by answering questions before, during, and after the preparation of a tax return.

●     Support Tax Leads with operations tasks by identifying online needs and continually working to improve the client’s online experience.

●     Protect client confidentiality.

●     Complete all specified paid training.

●     Other duties as assigned.

Tax Lead (Remote)

Under the direction of the Tax Program Manager, Tax Lead oversees client ticket platform operations, provide support and guidance to Tax Specialists and volunteer Tax Preparers, and ensure that online tax preparation operates efficiently. Monday – Thursday 8:30AM-4:30PM & Saturday 8:30AM-5:30PM schedule is available. This position pays $16 per hour.
