LOCATION:                          Costa Rica or Panama


DURATION:                       1 week training in Houston (March 16-24)

                                          Option 1 (Panama A): March 24-July 25

Option 2 (Panama B): March 24-August 2

Option 3 (Costa Rica): March 24-August 15

POSITION SUMMARY:        

AMIGOS is looking for a dynamic and motivated Project Director for a short-term cultural immersion program for young people ages 13-15. There will be 2 to 3-two week blocks of 15-25 volunteers with a short break for staff in-between groups. More information about the program can be found here.


The Project Director (PD) is directly accountable to the AMIGOS National Office for all aspects of project management, including partner agency and community relationships, budget administration, and health & safety of other Staff Team members as well as program volunteers. They will lead a team of 5 staff members and 1 educational mentor on each project. The PD will attend Senior Staff Training in Houston in March and then fly directly to the field. They support in the in-country training of the Project Supervisors and assign tasks and delegate workloads based on interest, skill set and need to the other Project Staff Team members. They will be joined by the Associate Project Director (APD) 28 days before volunteers arrive and will largely have the project planned out at that point. They will work alongside the APD to lead the team.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

• Fluency in written and spoken Spanish and English

• Prior experience on an AMIGOS Senior Staff team or a short-term international youth program 

• Experience working internationally in the developing world 

• Agree to be on-call throughout the duration of the program

• Completion of all online and in-person trainings 

• Excellent group facilitation skills and previous experience working directly with middle or high school youth of diverse backgrounds

• Proficient in Microsoft Office, and willingness to learn customer relationship management software



MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


• Maintains communication with a Regional Director and the AMIGOS Programs Department

• Facilitates the training and overall experience of a group of young people entering 9th and 10th grade and accompanying educators

• Cultivates professional relationships with host country officials at the national and regional levels, and maintains consistent communication with them before, during and after the program

• Supports in the planning and coordination of the project in his/her assigned project area

• Collaborates with the Senior Staff Team to create a successful working relationship, dividing responsibilities to promote effective completion of tasks

JOB RELATIONSHIPS:

• In communication as needed with on-call staff 

Benefits

One flight to training and round trip flight to program country (if applicable), $4,000 stipend, up to $500 reimbursable survey expenses, housing and food costs covered from May 15--End of Contract
