Its mission is to prevent and cure all cancers. The programs and activities of the AACR foster the exchange of new knowledge among scientists and physicians in the cancer field as well as in related sciences. AACR publishes eight peer-reviewed scientific journals and an award-winning magazine for cancer patients and their loved ones; convenes topical scientific conferences and an annual meeting that draws more than 22,600 participants; offers educational workshops that train young investigators in a variety of scientific and clinical areas; funds fellowships, career development awards, and research grants for both senior and junior investigators; raises public awareness of the progress in and reasons for hope in the biology, detection, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of cancer; engages actively in advocacy for increased federal research funding and other national policies that accelerate progress against cancer; and interacts with regulatory agencies to support regulatory science and policy.

Job Summary:

This position directly supports the Assistant Art Director of Marketing and Creative Services, working closely with the Senior Designer. The Web/Print Designer has a strong understanding of the visual development of web pages and web content. Responsible for conceptualizing, designing and producing a variety of graphic web-based applications such as marketing materials, newsletters, special publications, meeting programs, proceedings, email, web banners, and web content for AACR products and services. Primary responsibilities are coding and implementation of web-based products.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

•Work under the direction of the Assistant Art Director of Marketing and Creative Services to create a consistent look and feel of AACR web-based materials.

•Work within established brand guidelines to develop web graphics, including web banners, gifs, rotating banners, videos, apps, HTML code, email, mobile and other web-based products and applications.

•Design AACR print collateral which includes, but is not limited to: postcards, letterheads, forms, business cards, brochures, newsletters, web graphics, etc.

•Conceptualize and implement web-based design solutions that meet marketing strategies.

•Keep up-to-date on current design methodologies and maintain technical knowledge by attending design workshops, reviewing professional publications, and participating in professional societies.

•Present visual solutions to internal clients and help communicate strategies behind design ideas and executions.

•Allocate appropriate amount of time to each work order.

•Work collaboratively with other AACR departments to develop ideas and concepts to meet their collateral needs.

•Perform all the essential functions of the position with or without accommodations and other tasks and responsibilities as may be required.

Education Requirements:

•Associate degree in graphic design, web design or equivalent experience.

Job Qualifications:

•At least five years of experience in web design, layout, and production, preferably in an advertising agency or studio environment.

•Outstanding creativity and the ability to develop innovative ideas and concepts.

•Excellent coordination, organizational and prioritization skills.

•Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, and proven ability to communicate with all levels of management and external vendors.

•Ability to communicate conflicting deadlines and realistic estimations of project completion.

•Flexible and able to work well in a team environment.

Technical Competencies & Special Skills:

•Expert knowledge in WordPress, Microsoft SharePoint, Adobe Dreamweaver, Adobe Flash, HTML, HTML5, other web developing applications, Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop), Macintosh platform, and PC/Windows environment.

•Highly organized with a keen eye for detail.
