501(c)(4) Activist Organization Seeks  Operations Manager/Organizer

New York Progressive Action Network, and its affiliated 501(c)(3) seek an Operations Manager to coordinate and manage  growing array of activities of this expanding grassroots organization, and to oversee fundraising efforts. This job will require political dedication, organizing skills and fundraising skills.

Job Description

*The principal task is organizing, making sure that chapters are functioning, resources are made available, volunteers are connected to work, NYPAN coordinates with endorsed candidates, and social media is utilized to advance the growth of the organization, and that political platform is being addressed

*Daily oversight of web page, Facebook page, bi-weekly emails through Action Network and other social media

*Maintains regular communication with chapters and affiliates, responding to requests for assistance, and where necessary routing those requests to officers, committee chairs or counsel; also keeping abreast of what chapters are doing, soliciting meeting attendance lists for newsletter and emails

* Overseeing printing and distribution of literature and brochures

* Helps develop and helps execute a fundraising plan in conjunction with Treasurer and Fundraising Committee (including appeals through social media, our web site and newsletter, coordinating fundraising events, and following up on grant applications, and making sure donors are acknowledged)

*Oversee office management (tracking inventory, ordering supplies, maintaining key address, email and phone lists), and ensures all payments are made in a timely manner to our vendors  

*Assists special event management (planning, registration, auctions, deliveries, printing, A/V, volunteers, etc)

*Provides oversight to volunteers and interns; manage internship program – recruit interns through online postings, onboard new interns, and oversee their workflow

*Facilitate meetings of Executive Committee, Board of Directors, and Committees

*Reports to the Chairs and the Political Director

Job Requirements


*Bachelor’s Degree

*Ideal Candidates will have 1-3 years as staff in a non-profit, preferably as an organizer or in an organizational oversight position

*Political campaign, foundation or non-profit experience a huge plus

*Strong command of  Word, Excel and PowerPoint

*Experience with Raiser's Edge Software a plus

*Strong experience in Social Media a  plus

*Superb interpersonal skills to interact effectively with officers , Board, donors and volunteers and other organizations

*Drivers license a plus
