About Project Wreckless:

Project Wreckless is a workforce and capacity development program targeting at-risk youth (ages 14-25) in San Francisco. Project Wreckless aims to help youth overcome personal and professional barriers by providing them with the skills that prepare them for life and workplace success through an immersive curriculum centered around restoration of classic cars.

During each 9-month program cycle, Project Wreckless restores 1 classic car from the ground up. Each program cohort of 16 youth are empowered to lead all aspects of the car build project from design to sale and everything in between. Powered by a curriculum centered in trauma-informed practice, our youth rotate through our 7 job roles with their own unique set of skills necessary for the effective operation of an auto shop: Auto Technician, Program Manager, Accounting Manager, Human Resource Manager, Parts Manager, Safety Manager & Community Manager.

Project Wreckless was explicitly founded to be the bridge for at-risk youth to gain both the hard and soft skills to fill the vocational jobs of the future. Our programs address the lack of opportunities of work experience, skill building, professional networking and mentorship for youth who face personal and systemic challenges to their success including poverty, racism & sexism, mental health and addiction. We believe that youth born into families or communities facing economic, health and systemic hardships should have access to the same opportunities as their well resourced peers.

We prove that when provided with the right tools, youth that have been labeled as too far gone, can thrive, prosper and become the next generation of leaders in their community. Our goal is to help our students realize the success that we know they are capable of, and the happiness that we know they deserve. To learn more, please visit www.projectwreckless.org
