DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the general supervision of the Deputy Director of IT, the incumbent will help to shape multi-year technology roadmaps, focused on two of the largest units in WFP, Supply Chain and Emergency Preparedness & Response. He/she will be required to maintain a proactive relationship with key stakeholders in these teams and in the field, be able to think analytically and strategically, developing relationships with both operational and executive-level staff.
The Consultant will be responsible for the following functions:
Be a principal point of contact within the IT team for Supply Chain and Emergency Preparedness & Response, building relationships, understanding their needs and maintaining continuous dialogue to support effective identification and delivery of IT solutions and services;
Lead the coordination with Supply Chain and Emergency Preparedness & Response to develop roadmaps to improve and enhance the IT services provided, mapping the right solution to the right client initiative;
Understand new technology trends, forecast future requirements and guide business strategies to include a digital dimension.
Liaise with other Business Engagement Managers in Regional Bureaus and in Headquarters to ensure an integrated, coherent global IT environment.
Follow and champion a robust demand planning process to balance the needs of the business with IT capabilities and capacity in order to align business requirements with the IT strategy;
Collaborate across the IT branches at all levels and with the Regional IT Officers to ensure appropriate expertise and involvement in the portfolio of projects both in HQ and those being coordinated from the Field/INCA (Innovation and Change Management) to ensure an integrated global IT environment;
Gather initial requirements and high level analysis for new projects to submit and present the needed information for discussion with the Chiefs at the Demand Assessment Board;
Recommend actions on potential new projects and broker relationships to third party providers for projects being developed outside of the IT Division;
Develop a thorough understanding of existing solutions and be able to articulate the value proposition to the business. Understand and communicate relevant new products, features and capabilities as they become available and ensure successful deployment and activation;

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Education: University degree in Economics, Computer Science or Software Engineering.
Experience: A minimum of 6 years of relevant work experience in business relationship management, account management, project management, business and technical analysis in the IT field.
Technical Skills & Knowledge: Business process mapping, Project management, Detail-oriented, Excellent communication, Problem Solving, Ethics & Values, Team Work, Client Orientation, Cognitive Capacity, Interpersonal Relations, Stress Resistance, Behavioural Flexibility, Leadership Capabilities.

Language: Fluency in oral and written English with an intermediate knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish) or Portuguese (one of WFP’s working languages) is desirable.
