Communications and Membership Officer

The International Association of Women Judges (IAWJ) is seeking a remote, full-time communications and membership officer to support the growth and visibility of the work of our international network of over 6,500 women judges. 

About the IAWJ

The International Association of Women Judges (IAWJ) is a non-profit, non-governmental organization whose members represent all levels of the judiciary worldwide and share a commitment to equal justice for women and the rule of law. Created in 1991 by a core group of 50 dynamic and visionary women judges from around the world, the IAWJ has grown into a highly respected organization with over 6,500 members in more than 100 countries and territories; we continue to expand its membership. 

About the position

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Communications and Membership Officer will collaborate with the IAWJ’s small and dynamic team to advance the IAWJ’s mission and vision through public and professional outreach, social media, external communications, membership development, fundraising and media relations. Fulfilling these roles will require strong communications skills and close teamwork with and supervision of the membership associate, communications consultants and interns.

This position is funded by the Co-Impact Women in Leadership in Law grant and will be heavily focused on increasing IAWJ membership outreach and communications efforts in the Global South.

 Key Responsibilities

Communications         

• Develop and implement a new membership and communications strategy and plan for the organization         
• Oversee content, dissemination, and growth of the IAWJ’s podcast, quarterly newsletter and annual report          
• Assist with outreach efforts for IAWJ’s biennial conference, programs, and member events-         
• Develop and manage strategic social media campaigns 
• Regularly review and update website content

Membership

• Develop and implement new membership engagement and outreach initiatives         
• Respond to public and member email inquiries and facilitate information sharing-         
• Manage and update information about current and prospective members         
• Conduct membership campaigns and follow-up on membership renewals        
• Develop creative and engaging membership outreach materials      
• Research options for new website and membership database platforms and present findings to Executive Director and International Board

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism, or related field         
• 4+ years of experience as a membership or outreach/communications professional         
• Demonstrated commitment to IAWJ’s mission and values         
• Excellent communications skills, both oral and written        
• Adept at using digital technologies and social media        
• Experience with CRM systems         
• Capacity to prioritize and meet deadlines         
• US Citizenship or ability to work in the United States required

Preferred qualifications

• Fluency in Spanish and/or French        
• Knowledge of graphic design tools         
• Publication experience (print and/or digital)-         
• Prior experience with customer service and/or member services
