The Center for Property Tax Reform* (CPTR) seeks a creative and committed self-starter to join our team as our first ever Assistant Director. Together with Center leadership, the successful candidate will develop and refine the Center's programming; engage in outreach to communities and other constituents to educate and promote equity-enhancing tax reforms; manage and grow a collection of research grants; work with communications staff to promote the Center's work; and conduct original, property tax reform-focused analyses under the guidance of the Center's Co-Directors.

The ideal candidate will have experience:

  • In community outreach, education, and/or organizing, particularly as it relates to equity, land use, and or budgeting/finance
  • Seeking and administering grants and gifts
  • Conducting and sharing the results of analyses using property tax data
  • Creating reports, blog posts, op eds, social media posts, and other communications focused on issues related to public policy, land use, taxation, equity, and social reform
  • Managing a small organization or a department (or other distinct organizational unit) within a larger organization
  • Creating and carrying out an organizational strategic plan
  • Managing multiple projects with varying deliverables and timelines simultaneously
  • Working with and supporting a nonprofit Board of Directors

Other desirable characteristics of our ideal candidate include:

  • 5+ years professional experience (relevant educational attainment may be substituted for some years of experience)
  • Master's Degree (or higher) in a relevant field of study
  • Self starter/self directed
  • Strong written and verbal skills
  • Knowledge of Tableau or other mapping software
  • Knowledge of R, SPSS, or other statistical software
  • Excitement for and commitment to tax equity and transparency
  • The ability to travel for conferences and to communities where the Center works
  • An understanding of academic research practices
  • A desire to build and maintain partnerships with communities, other nonprofits, professional researchers, and other constituents
  • Conversational Spanish language preferred
  • Excitement for taking on a challenge
  • A strong team player able to balance their role as a leader with the need for collaboration and the open exchange of ideas
