GenderCool’s Manager of Digital Experience is responsible for guiding digital strategy in collaboration with the Executive Director and Director of Operations & Programs and then executing that strategy across all platforms. The Director of Digital should have an authentic desire to be part of a rapidly-growing social movement, fueled by the young people ages 12 to 17 we call our Champions. 

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop an on-brand content program for GenderCool, encompassing Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Linkedin and our Mailchimp monthly newsletter
  • Includes Champion outreach 2-3 times per quarter, managing content submissions and providing feedback
  • Draft, manage and publish all content
  • Employ graphic design, project management and video creation tools to create and design static and video content (e.g. Canva, Tribute)
  • Support paid social media efforts (working with GenderCool’s paid media consultants) when necessary
  • Create low touch digital content plans surrounding GenderCool events and external opportunities
  • Develop social media messages to post before, during and after event
  • Support event partner with social media messaging as needed
  • Establish shot lists, and be prepared to manage/direct professional photo/video staff 
  • Produce scrappy, short-format videos per quarter, using content collected professionally at events and requested from active Champions
  • Manage all owned social media communities (i.e., monitor comments, engage with partners and relevant allies, share and amplify relevant pieces of content)
  • Manage LinkedIn presence and thought leadership brand
  • Draft a consistent flow of content for brand’s page
  • Develop content calendar for thought leadership topics and work with GenderCool founders/staff to byline articles
  • Monitor for relevant articles and conversations to share with commentary  
  • Attend events/be accessible for travel 1-3 times per quarter
  • Manage email program
  • Create and distribute a monthly e-newsletter 
  • Drive action through email campaigns, including donation asks
  • Important Qualities:
  • Attention to detail
  • High emotional intelligence; must be able to connect respectfully and work with the young people ages 12 to 17 leading this organization and their parents and staff
  • Collaborative, kind spirit
  • Scrappy, understands that the full GenderCool team is deeply dedicated to the mission 
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to consistently meet deadlines
  • Strong writing skills, specifically writing for social and writing video scripts
  • Experience strategically managing a brand on social (min of 2-3 years)
  • Video editing skills
  • Creative energy 
  • Adaptable - able to work/operate on the fly
  • Photography and videography skills/equipment
  • Graphic design 
  • Analytics skills 
  • Digital ad campaign skills 
  • Experience with client communications 
  • Writing for web  
  • Email management/design
  • Estimated Time Requirement:
  • 25 to 30 hours a week (an estimated average)
  • Consideration Process:
  • Strong experience with: copywriting, email programs (like Mailchimp), Facebook analytics, Facebook ads, Instagram analytics, Google Analytics, video editing) 
  • Role Parameters:
  • Contract to Hire: Independent contractor through end of 2021 with goal to evolve to full time employee in 2022
  • Monthly compensation: $4,200.00 USD 
  • Ideal start date: October 1, 2021
