The American Academy of Optometry Foundation (AAOF) is the philanthropic “arm” of the American Academy of Optometry (AAO) and is seeking a Director, Development. Both the AAO and AAOF are not-for-profit, 501(c)(3) organizations located in Orlando, Florida. The AAOF develops and provides financial support for optometric research and young researchers in vision and eye health to improve clinical patient care.
The Director, Development works with Board members to identify, engage, cultivate and solicit major gift prospects and donors, and establish long-term partnerships while strengthening existing relationships with individuals and corporate donors. They are responsible for donor recognition, corporate relations, special events and annual gifts, and coordinates and manages recognition and stewardship activities designed to increase awareness and support of the AAOF.
The Director, Development supervises the Foundation Program Manager in program management and implementation.
The ideal candidate has outstanding development skills and has experience managing people, programs, and budgets. Must have a bachelor’s degree and not less than five years of development experience.
